Russia takes control of several villages in Donetsk region, reveals information about Ukraine negotiations

The Russian Defense Ministry said on December 29 that Russian forces had captured the village of Novotroitske in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine.

Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that the Russian army had also taken control of two Ukrainian villages, one in the Donetsk region and one in the Kharkov region.

On the same day, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that both the current and incoming US administrations have enough leverage to initiate negotiations on the Ukraine issue.

“They should only use them, these levers, for themselves and Kiev,” Lavrov stressed. “If Washington really wanted to end the conflict, it would stop supplying weapons to Kiev, ask its satellites to do the same, and order its Kiev puppets to stop firing and continue the negotiation process without any conditions.”

The Russian diplomat affirmed that Moscow is ready for negotiations to resolve the situation around Ukraine, but these negotiations must be aimed at eliminating the root causes of the crisis and taking into account the real situation "on the ground".
