At the same time, organize 24/7 on-duty, ensure smooth communication during natural disasters, early detection and timely handling of unusual incidents according to the motto "four on-site".
Localities need to review, develop and deploy response plans appropriate to each type of natural disaster, especially in key and vulnerable areas; arrange forces and means ready to respond and overcome consequences when situations occur.
In addition, it is necessary to urgently organize pruning and reinforcement of trees that are prone to breakage and falling, especially in school grounds, hospitals, parks and busy roads; check and handle the drainage system to avoid prolonged flooding. Propaganda and guidance on disaster prevention skills to the people through mass media are also required to continue to be promoted.
For the Center for Irrigation and Clean Water, it is required to closely monitor the situation of heavy rain and high tides to proactively regulate and operate culverts, dykes, embankments, ensure safety of works and prevent flooding. At the same time, closely coordinate with localities in managing and inspecting the current status of dykes along major river branches such as Vam Co Dong, Vam Co Tay, Rach Cat, Song Tra, etc. and propose timely solutions to handle incidents if any.
As reported, recently, in Long An province, some early season rains have caused property damage. On the afternoon of April 24, a thunderstorm with strong winds blew off the roofs of 71 houses in Long Thuan and My Lac communes, Thu Thua district; in addition, electric poles were also knocked down and tilted. The police, military , militia and local electricity forces quickly arrived to assist people in overcoming the consequences.
