To ensure food safety and hygiene (FSH) in the area, Mong Cai City has had many effective ways of doing things, in which the active participation of state management agencies and functional sectors is a useful tool.
Currently, in Mong Cai, there are 13 markets and commercial centers, with 6,574 establishments producing, processing and trading food, of which the health sector manages 853 establishments; the industry and trade sector: 2,264 establishments; the total number of establishments producing and trading agricultural, forestry and fishery products under the management of the agricultural sector is 3,457 establishments. To ensure food safety and hygiene, the city has effectively promoted the state management function and actively participated by functional agencies such as the health sector, police, market management, border guards... in controlling food sources, controlling processing, trading, transportation and consumption processes...
Within the framework of the “Month of Action for Food Safety” in 2025, the city has synchronously deployed many solutions to enhance the effectiveness of food management and control, protect people's health and contribute to ensuring food safety in the area. Since the beginning of April, the People's Committee of Mong Cai City has established 3 food safety inspection teams, including 2 interdisciplinary teams and 1 medical team. Communes and wards have also established 16 inspection teams in the area. With 56 directives issued, the direction and implementation of the “Month of Action for Food Safety” has been promoted from the city level to the grassroots level.
The city focuses on improving the quality of propagandaand education on food safety knowledge for the people, for production and sales establishments, thereby raising people's awareness in implementation. Propaganda activities were carried out extensively and in various forms such as broadcasting over 165 times, hanging 35 banners, and distributing more than 16,000 propaganda leaflets at markets, schools, and public places. In particular, the city organized training courses on food safety knowledge for 300 food service establishments and collective kitchens. Along with propaganda, inspection and handling of violations, rapid food safety testing was also focused on. 77 food samples were tested, with 100% of the samples meeting the requirements.
Thanks to that, since the beginning of the year and for many years, Mong Cai has not had any mass food poisoning incidents.
Along with that, Mong Cai is a border area with many trails, openings, small border gates, in the areas of markets, bus stations, and places where goods are often gathered, so the functional forces of Mong Cai City always focus on inspection, control, and prevention of food smuggling from across the border into the interior. Since the beginning of the year, the functional forces in the area have arrested, handle dozens of cases Trading and transporting smuggled food goods. Such as: Customs Control Team No. 1 (Customs Sub-Department of Region VIII) arrested 5 cases, destroyed goods worth 145,475 million VND; Market Management Team No. 4 (Quang Ninh Market Management Department) inspected and handled 19 violations in trading smuggled food goods and trading food goods of unknown origin, the value of destroyed goods was over 660 million VND; The interdisciplinary inspection team of Mong Cai City and communes and wards inspected 95 establishments producing, trading and trading food and pharmaceuticals, and administratively sanctioned 11 establishments with a fine of more than 41 million VND...
Mobilize the entire political system, functional sectors and people to join in promoting the prevention of diseases caused by dirty food of unknown origin, practically building a green, clean and safe Mong Cai city in terms of food safety.
