Statistics from the Customs Department show that as of May 15, businesses had exported nearly 736,583 tons of coffee, earning about 4.2 billion USD. Compared to the same period last year, coffee export volume decreased slightly by 5.5%, but the value skyrocketed by 56.7%.

Average price coffee export reached 5,709 USD/ton, a sharp increase of 66% compared to 3,433 USD/ton in the same period last year.
In terms of markets, Vietnam's 10 largest coffee export markets had a total turnover of 2.53 billion USD, accounting for 63% of the coffee export value in the first 4 months of 2025. All 10 markets grew strongly compared to the same period last year.
Specifically, in the first 4 months of the year, Germany was Vietnam's largest coffee export market with 628 million USD, up 97% over the same period last year. Italy also spent 307.6 million USD to buy this type of bean from Vietnam, up 33.8%.
Spain also spent 292.5 million USD, up 51.4%. The US spent 236.8 million USD (up 56.8%), Japan spent 260 million USD (up 43.6%), and Russia spent 213.4 million USD (up 54.8%) to import Vietnamese coffee.
Coffee exports to Algeria increased by 157.1% in the first 4 months of 2025, reaching 185 million USD and was the only market in the Top 10 with triple-digit growth.
Vietnam also earned 236 million USD from coffee exports to the US, up 56.8%; Russia with 213 million USD, up 54.7%; the Netherlands with 154 million USD, up 66.3%; Belgium with 133.5 million USD, up 89.8% and the Philippines with 122 million USD, up 31.6%.
In ASEAN, Vietnam also exported coffee to Indonesia with 87.4 million USD, down 32.7% compared to the same period last year. Coffee exports to Myanmar and Singapore also decreased by 39.8% and 6.8%, reaching 3 million USD and 2.7 million USD, respectively.
In contrast, coffee exports to Thailand increased by 46% to 86.7 million USD; Malaysia with 78.2 million USD, up 60.9%. In the first 4 months of 2025, Cambodia and Laos were the two coffee export markets of Vietnam in the bloc with triple-digit growth of 122% to 4.8 million USD and 114% to 0.58 million USD.
According to data from the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (VICOFA), in just the first 15 days of May, businesses exported about 68,400 tons of coffee beans, worth 373 million USD; an increase of 73% in output and 146% in value compared to the same period last year.
The main export is still Robusta coffee with 62,700 tons, turnover of 345 million USD, up 83% in volume and 155% in value compared to the same period in 2024. The export price of Robusta coffee during this period was 5,336 USD/ton, although it decreased compared to March and April, it was much higher than the futures price of coffee on the floor.
Accumulated in the first 4 months of the year (from January 1 to May 15), for green coffee alone, Vietnam exported nearly 734,000 tons, with an export turnover of more than 3.95 billion USD, up 1.8% in volume and 69.5% in value over the same period last year. Thus, if processed coffee is included, coffee exports in the above period have exceeded 4 billion USD.
According to calculations by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment , the total coffee area in 2025 will be about 718,000 hectares, with an output of 1.95 million tons. Excluding nearly 736,600 tons exported, Vietnam still has more than 1.2 million tons of coffee to serve domestic consumption and export in the following months.
