Statistics from the Customs Department show that, as of May 15th, businesses had exported nearly 736,583 tons of coffee, earning approximately $4.2 billion. Compared to the same period last year, coffee export volume decreased slightly by 5.5%, but the value surged by 56.7%.
This figure puts coffee far ahead of seafood ($3.64 billion) and fruits and vegetables ($1.93 billion) to become the second-highest-grossing commodity sector. export turnover highest in the agricultural sector.

Regarding markets, Vietnam's top 10 coffee export markets totaled $2.53 billion, accounting for 63% of the total coffee export value in the first four months of 2025. All 10 markets showed high growth compared to the same period last year.
Specifically, in the first four months of the year, Germany was Vietnam's largest coffee export market with $628 million, a 97% increase compared to the same period last year. Italy also spent $307.6 million to buy this bean from Vietnam, a 33.8% increase.
Spain also spent $292.5 million, an increase of 51.4%. The US spent $236.8 million (up 56.8%), Japan $260 million (up 43.6%), and Russia $213.4 million (up 54.8%) to import Vietnamese coffee.
Coffee exports to Algeria increased by 157.1% in the first four months of 2025, reaching $185 million, making it the only market in the Top 10 to experience triple-digit growth.
Vietnam also earned $236 million from coffee exports to the US, up 56.8%; Russia with $213 million, up 54.7%; the Netherlands with $154 million, up 66.3%; Belgium with $133.5 million, up 89.8%; and the Philippines with $122 million, up 31.6%.
Within ASEAN, Vietnam also exported coffee to Indonesia worth $87.4 million, a decrease of 32.7% compared to the same period last year. Coffee exports to Myanmar and Singapore also decreased by 39.8% and 6.8% respectively, reaching $3 million and $2.7 million.
Conversely, coffee exports to Thailand increased by 46%, reaching $86.7 million; and to Malaysia by $78.2 million, a 60.9% increase. In the first four months of 2025, Cambodia and Laos were two of Vietnam's coffee export markets within the bloc that experienced triple-digit growth, with increases of 122% to $4.8 million and 114% to $0.58 million respectively.
According to data from the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (VICOFA), in the first 15 days of May alone, businesses exported approximately 68,400 tons of green coffee beans, worth $373 million; a 73% increase in volume and a 146% increase in value compared to the same period last year.
Of this, Robusta coffee exports remained the main focus, totaling 62,700 tons and generating $345 million in revenue, representing an 83% increase in volume and a 155% increase in value compared to the same period in 2024. The export price of Robusta coffee during this period was $5,336 per ton, a decrease compared to March and April, but still significantly higher than the futures price on the exchange.
In the first four months of the year (from January 1st to May 15th), Vietnam exported nearly 734,000 tons of green coffee beans, generating over $3.95 billion in export revenue, representing a 1.8% increase in volume and a 69.5% increase in value compared to the same period last year. Thus, including processed coffee, total coffee exports during this period exceeded $4 billion.
According to calculations by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment , the total coffee growing area in 2025 will be approximately 718,000 hectares, with a production of 1.95 million tons. Subtracting nearly 736,600 tons already exported, Vietnam will have over 1.2 million tons of coffee available for domestic consumption and export in the coming months.
