Wild orchids in the Chu Mom Ray area are highly valued biologically but are becoming increasingly rare in nature. To conserve this precious genetic resource, Chu Mom Ray National Park regularly sends staff deep into the forest to collect remaining orchid specimens for restoration. Currently, the Center for Biodiversity Conservation and Ecotourism (Chu Mom Ray National Park) is preserving over 2,000 orchid plants, with nearly 150 different species. Each species requires meticulous care for one to two years before being ready to be transplanted back into the natural forest environment.

Ms. Y Búp, from the Biodiversity Conservation and Ecotourism Center, Chư Mom Ray National Park, said: “ We search online to find out what fertilizers and pesticides are suitable for orchids, so we have to try different products to find the right ones for each orchid. To water the orchids, we have to use filters to remove soil and ensure the water is clean .”
The conservation of wild orchid genetic resources is of great scientific significance, contributing to the regeneration of natural resources that are declining due to overexploitation. Chu Mom Ray is one of the most biodiverse national parks in Vietnam and is recognized by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations as an ASEAN Natural Heritage Site. The area is home to approximately 950 animal species, including 176 rare species, and nearly 1,900 plant species, creating one of the richest ecosystems in the Central Highlands.
