Heavy fighting has been reported near the Antonovsk Bridge in the Kherson region. Newly released video from the area shows Russia launching an Iskander tactical ballistic missile attack on a group of Ukrainian troops gathered under the bridge. Thirty people are believed to have been killed and 10 others injured in the airstrike.
Another video shows the destruction of two towed artillery pieces that Kiev forces were using to support the assault on the key bridge.
Kiev forces also attempted to advance in the Donetsk region. However, the attack was repelled. Video footage shows heavy Russian artillery attacks near the center of the region.
Meanwhile, the Yug Group of Forces said that it attacked a number of targets in the Lisichansk, Soledaro-Artemovsk and Aleksandro-Kalinovsk directions. Air and artillery strikes targeted personnel and equipment of the 92nd, 54th, and 22nd mechanized brigades of the Kiev forces.
The group's forces also repelled the attack of the 110th Ukrainian mechanized brigade in the Krutaya Balka settlement in the Avdeevsky direction. Moreover, the forces prevented the activities of a reconnaissance and sabotage group in the Pervomaisky area.
In addition, the Group's artillery destroyed three 120 mm mortars and two ammunition transport units of the Kiev forces near Krasnogorovka and Belogorovka. Russia also fired TOS-1A thermobaric missile launchers at a concentration of Ukrainian troops on the outskirts of Bakhmut.
The commander of the Chechen Republic's Akhmat special forces, Apty Alaudinov, told Russia 1 TV on June 29 that Ukraine's counterattack failed to penetrate any of Russia's defenses, but Kiev continued to kill its soldiers.
“The picture we see is that Kiev forces have reached the first line of defense but are unable to break through it. We warned them about this. In fact, they do not have the forces and resources to break through our three-tier defense,” Alaudinov told the evening news program 60 Minutes .
“Let them waste (their men) as they planned. They will only make things worse for themselves. The actual result, I have always said, will be the same. We will definitely win this battle,” he added.
Facing defeat on the ground, Kiev forces launched an attack using British-supplied Storm Shadow cruise missiles against the Russian-held city of Berdyansk. Several missiles were intercepted by Russian air defenses.
Overall, the Ukrainian counteroffensive clearly did not go according to plan.
