At the 9th Banking Industry Patriotic Emulation Congress (2025 - 2030) organized by the State Bank on the afternoon of November 24, commercial banks pledged to reduce 2% of lending interest rates for existing loans of customers affected by recent natural disasters and floods.
At the same time, in order to support people in provinces severely damaged by natural disasters, the banking sector will initially donate 150 billion VND to help people overcome the consequences of floods.
Attending and speaking at the congress, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the contributions of the banking sector in perfecting the legal system on currency and banking activities.
Monetary policy is operated proactively, flexibly, promptly, effectively, and in close, synchronous, harmonious, and close coordination with fiscal policy and other macroeconomic policies. At the same time, the banking industry is always a pioneer in digital transformation; the banking system operates smoothly, continuously, safely, and effectively.
Emphasizing the important role of the banking sector, the lifeblood of the economy, the Prime Minister requested the banking sector to strictly control capital flows so that credit goes in the right direction, serving production and business activities.
To achieve the double-digit growth target in the coming years, credit growth must be high, but bank capital cannot flow into places that hoard goods and raise prices.
The banking sector must continue to contribute to maintaining macroeconomic stability, controlling inflation, ensuring major balances of the economy, and promoting rapid and sustainable growth. In the current context, the priority goal is to maintain macroeconomic stability.
According to Governor Nguyen Thi Hong, over the past 5 years, despite facing many difficulties and challenges, the banking industry has always been united, making an important contribution to controlling inflation, stabilizing the macro-economy, promoting the economy to recover soon after the COVID-19 pandemic and develop strongly, contributing positively to the overall results of the country.
At the congress, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presented the First Class Labor Medal to the State Bank collective; the Second Class Independence Medal to former Deputy Governor of the State Bank Dao Minh Tu; and the First Class Labor Medal to Governor of the State Bank Nguyen Thi Hong and Deputy Governor of the State Bank Pham Thanh Ha.
