According to statistics, as of November 24, in terms of infrastructure, many schools were deeply flooded, had landslides, damaged fences, teaching equipment, embankments, parking lots and drainage systems; and trees were knocked down. The total estimated damage in the 5 provinces was nearly 100 billion VND.
Specifically, Dak Lak suffered nearly 29 billion VND in damage, Gia Lai 22.6 billion, Khanh Hoa 32.5 billion, Lam Dong 9.3 billion and Quang Ngai 4.2 billion. Due to the fragmented terrain and the water not yet fully receding, localities are still continuing to count the damage.
According to the Ministry of Education and Training, the damage to textbooks and school supplies is also very large. Quang Ngai has more than 38,800 sets of textbooks damaged; Dak Lak has more than 6,300 sets; Gia Lai has more than 448,000 textbooks damaged; Lam Dong has 334 sets of textbooks, 405 sets of school supplies and 550 notebooks damaged; Khanh Hoa is continuing to review so there is no data yet. To ensure that students have enough books, the Ministry will organize the free distribution of all textbooks to students in flood-affected areas.
Currently, the Vietnam Education Publishing House has prepared 10 million textbooks to provide to students in flood-affected areas, basically completing support for Dak Lak province and continuing to deploy in Gia Lai, Khanh Hoa, Quang Ngai and Lam Dong.
