The 2023 Border Sim Flower Festival will take place on May 20 and 21 in Mong Cai City.

On May 20 and 21, Mong Cai City People's Committee will organize the 2023 Border Sim Flower Festival in Hai Son commune.

Within the framework of the Festival, an incense offering ceremony will be held at the Po Hen Martyrs Memorial. This is the Memorial of the officers, soldiers of the armed forces, and forestry workers who heroically sacrificed to protect the Fatherland's borders in the years 1979 and 1980.

Many activities will take place at the Po Hen Martyrs Memorial Area to commemorate those who heroically sacrificed for the Fatherland.

The cultural exchange program with impressive and attractive singing, dancing, music, fashion shows, singing, folk dancing, and bamboo dancing, with the participation of mass actors from Mong Cai City, people and students of Hai Son Commune and Border Guard officers and soldiers stationed in Mong Cai.

Visitors can also visit the mural village of Dang Family Hamlet, Po Hen Village, Hai Son Commune with houses painted with murals and the 72-room waterfall - Trang Vinh Lake with a height of about 4m. Near the 72-room waterfall is the sim hill area - the main theme of the festival located on the concrete road connecting Hai Son to Hai Tien, where there are many natural sim trees about 2m high, in the sim flower season, they bloom like a purple picture full of the scent and color of the mountains and forests typical of the border region of the Fatherland.

Coming to the festival, visitors can also visit the “Po Hen Market” with stalls selling local products. The Hai Son culinary festival with dishes such as five-color sticky rice, local pigs, black ducks, wild bamboo shoots, wood-grilled hill chickens, and stream fish displayed on trays is both rustic and interesting, and will satisfy visitors.

The festival also featured women's football and spinning tops between Dao and San Chi women from Mong Cai City and San Chi women from Huc Dong Commune (Binh Lieu District), and San Chi women from Dai Duc Commune, Tien Yen District. People and visitors to the festival were able to participate in games such as throwing con, swinging, crossing monkey bridges, spinning tops, blindfolded duck catching, climbing banana trees to pick fruit, etc. and a campfire program.

Visitors to Po Hen Market will be satisfied with many typical culinary dishes of Mong Cai.

The festival is expected to attract about 10,000 visitors. This is one of the activities to celebrate the 133rd birthday of President Ho Chi Minh on May 19 (1890-2023), towards the 60th anniversary of the founding of Quang Ninh province on October 30 (1963-2023) and to stimulate and develop the tourism industry in Mong Cai, Quang Ninh.
