"Kind Weekend" collects the kindness of life and brings those kindnesses to the community, spreading good values to everyone.
Someone once asked: "Haven't we done any good deeds before that we named the model 'Kind Weekend'?". The question is quite difficult and the Youth Union of Phu Thuan B commune also had to look back at themselves before that question. The guiding principle of the model is to spread meaningful and good deeds to the community and society and multiply good examples for the community through propaganda and communication activities on social networks and radio.
Initially, the model was to take advantage of weekends such as: volunteer Saturday, green Sunday of union members, youth, cadres, civil servants and even volunteers who are students of universities and colleges. Instead of using weekends for family matters, going out, chatting over coffee..., many young people spent that time to accompany "Kind Weekend".

Activities for "Kind Weekend"
Youth union members can choose a job that they love such as: planting trees, reading books or sharing positive work on their personal page. Being kind to family means helping the family, helping younger siblings study, do homework or simply giving mom a flower. Being kind to society brings good values and helps difficult situations with your ability.
Follow the members, youth and volunteers of Phu Thuan B Commune Youth Union to learn about a kind weekend. Only by going and seeing can you fully feel the love and truly "kind" deeds of the young people here.
Go to difficult circumstances to give bags of rice less than 10 kg but it is warm and meaningful because of sharing. Or simply newspapers and magazines are given to youth newspaper reading points of the commune Youth Union.
Mr. Ngo Kim An - Secretary of the Youth Union of Phu Loi A Hamlet shared that each member and youth participates with the spirit of sharing with the community, bringing the simplest joy to difficult circumstances. Smiles or words of thanks are precious rewards for the efforts of volunteers participating in the "Kind Weekend" activity. He also hopes that the kind story of the Youth Union of Phu Thuan B Commune will continue and spread to many places across the country.
In early May, volunteers took advantage of the weekend to collect textbooks, notebooks, and notebooks to prepare to give to studious students and students in difficult circumstances at the beginning of the new school year. It is known that each year, more than 75 sets of textbooks of all kinds, 1,500 notebooks, 40 scholarships, 50 health insurance packages, 20 bicycles, 200 moon cakes, lanterns, etc. are given away with a total value of tens of millions of VND.

Among the many circumstances that received rice, the family of Mr. To Van Phu (residing in Phu Loi B hamlet, Phu Thuan B commune) is somewhat disadvantaged. The couple is over 60 years old, the family is near poverty, the only son is mentally disabled. Every day, the couple earns a living by picking wild vegetables and casting nets to make a living. Every month, on the weekend, the youth union members visit and give necessities to the couple. The gift is not big but carries the value of sharing...
Recognizing the contributions of young people
The "Kind Weekend" model has gathered many union members, youth, volunteers, and students inside and outside the commune. Many young people, seeing the meaningful and positive work, have proactively contacted to participate and always accompany to join hands to support everyone. Each gift, each textbook, each tree planted... has spread kindness to the community. That kindness has been known and recognized by people inside and outside the district.

Each of us learns from Uncle Ho not from lessons or documents, but from specific actions in daily life, actions that seem simple but are truly meaningful to many people.
Pham Phuong Anh, a student at Dong Thap University, said, "I learned about the 'Kind Weekend' activity on Facebook and I proactively registered to participate. I like the activities that support children, organize games, performances, give gifts... I am always ready to accompany you to do good work for the community."
In parallel, the "Kind Weekend" model also supports difficult circumstances, illnesses, sorts waste for scrap sale, gives scholarships to studious students... with tens of millions of VND. It is these practical and meaningful actions that have helped the Youth Union of Phu Thuan B commune receive a certificate of merit from the Provincial People's Committee for excellent completion of tasks; awards for studying following Uncle Ho's example; certificates of merit from the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee for excellent completion of tasks... and many other certificates of merit from the district, province, and Central Government.
The journey of the "Kind Weekend" model is still continuing its mission. We believe that the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style of Phu Thuan B commune in particular and Dong Thap youth in general will continue to reap many practical results and increasingly penetrate and spread so that the kind and good things in life are increasingly promoted, contributing to building Dong Thap homeland to be more and more beautiful and civilized; the lives of Dong Thap people will be more and more prosperous and happy.
