Reading Culture Festival in My Thanh

On the morning of April 25th, at My Thanh Primary School (My Thanh commune, Ham Thuan Nam district), the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the province, in coordination with the People's Committee of Ham Thuan Nam district and the Provincial Library, organized the 2025 Reading Culture Festival and donated bookshelves to disadvantaged schools. This meaningful activity is part of a series of events in response to Vietnam's Book and Reading Culture Day.

Attending the event were Mr. Nguyen Le Thanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the province, Ms. Mai Thi Ngoc Anh - Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ham Thuan Nam district, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Binh - Deputy Director in charge of the Provincial Library, representatives of provincial agencies, specialized departments of Ham Thuan Nam district, along with teachers and 113 students.

Mr. Nguyen Le Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the province, highlighted the importance of reading and developing a reading culture in schools.

Here, the participating units donated two bookshelves and books to My Thanh Primary School and Ham Can Secondary School, totaling nearly 1,500 books of various types, covering science , history, literature, life skills, dictionaries, etc. The books were donated through the efforts of the Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Binh Thuan Book and Equipment Joint Stock Company, and the Vietnam News Agency's Binh Thuan branch. Additionally, the organizers awarded 10 scholarships and 20 gifts of school supplies to disadvantaged students to encourage them to overcome difficulties and excel in their studies.

The Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented bookshelves to promote reading culture to the principals of two schools.

Students from disadvantaged backgrounds received gifts and scholarships at the program.

As part of the program, Binh Thuan Provincial Library organized the "Light of Knowledge" multimedia mobile library with various activities such as book title quizzes, picture-based book guessing games, storytelling based on books, free internet access, and reading in the schoolyard… Through these activities, ethnic minority students can access a variety of books, improve their Vietnamese language skills, develop a reading habit, enhance life skills, nurture their souls, and develop their personalities.
