Binh Dinh welcomes 1 billion USD project from Sweden

On April 25, the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province signed a memorandum of cooperation with Syre Group (Sweden) to implement a polyester fabric recycling project, promising to bring many benefits to the local industry and environment.

The polyester fabric recycling complex project has a total investment of about 1 billion USD, deployed on an area of ​​20 hectares, with a capacity of 250,000 tons/year, expected to operate in 2028.

The project aims to build a large-scale textile waste recycling complex into polyester fibers, contributing to building Vietnam into the first global center for circular textiles, applying high technology according to US and EU standards, following the direction of sustainable development, achieving the goal of net zero emissions.

At the signing ceremony, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, Chairman of Binh Dinh Province, supported high-tech projects, green development, and environmental protection. The locality is ready to support Syre Group in resolving legal difficulties related to importing raw materials.

Mr. Pham Anh Tuan requested Syre Group to properly implement its commitments on developing a circular economy , green economy, protecting the environment and using domestic scrap sources to recycle in each phase.

According to Ms. Susanna Campbell, Director of Syre Group, for the textile industry, polyester fiber is the most commonly used fiber. The textile industry today needs to develop on a more sustainable basis, and Syre is implementing a project in that direction. To contribute to solving the problem of sustainable development of the textile industry, the group has purchased American technology to apply to recycling polyester fabric fibers.

“We have studied 20 types of textile recycling technology, and the technology we are using is the most advanced. This technology allows textile waste to be recycled and produced into new polyester fiber,” said Ms. Susanna Campbell.
