Talk: Need to prevent and end commercial fraud and counterfeit goods

Currently, ministries, sectors and localities across the country are launching a peak campaign to prevent trade fraud, counterfeit goods and infringement of intellectual property rights. The purpose is to protect the goods of legitimate establishments, businesses and consumers across the country.

Perhaps, never before in such a short period of time have the Government , ministries and branches issued so many documents against counterfeiting and trade fraud. Specifically, in April and May 2025, the Government, ministries and branches issued 12 documents directing the strengthening of control, detection and handling of trade fraud and counterfeit goods such as: Official Dispatch No. 40/CD-TTg dated April 17, 2025 on handling the case of production and distribution of fake milk; Official Dispatch No. 41/CD-TTg dated April 17, 2025 on handling the case of production and trade of counterfeit medicines and health protection foods; Official Dispatch No. 55/CD-TTg dated May 2, 2025 on strengthening coordination and strictly handling organizations and individuals involved in the production and trade of counterfeit medicines, fake milk and health protection foods; Official Dispatch No. 65/CD-TTg dated
May 15, 2025 on launching a peak campaign to fight against and repel smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, infringement of intellectual property rights...

Dong Nai has also established a Working Group to direct, supervise and urge the peak work of fighting, preventing and repelling smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and infringement of intellectual property rights in the province, headed by Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Tan Duc. Currently, Dong Nai is strengthening market inspections to promptly detect counterfeit, poor quality goods, trade fraud and infringement of intellectual property rights for strict handling. At the same time, the province's functional forces will increase inspections of businesses on e-commerce platforms, websites, Zalo, Facebook, TikTok.

In addition to the increased inspection and control of goods on the market by the authorities, consumers also need to pay more attention and be more careful when choosing products to use. In particular, the product must have a clear origin and source, and have a barcode for checking. In fact, for a long time, there has been no shortage of fake and poor quality goods on the market, including shoes, bags, clothes, cosmetics, food, etc. Therefore, local authorities have increased propaganda and mobilization to raise awareness for consumers, saying no to fake, poor quality products, and unclear brands.

Businesses with quality products need to pay more attention to building and promoting their brands and applying modern technology so that consumers know and choose more products. At the same time, products should have barcodes so that consumers can easily access and check their origin.
