Taking place from June 13 to 22 at the Bac Ninh Province multi-purpose stadium, the tournament had the participation of 343 athletes from 36 provinces, cities and sectors. Because this is the biggest and most important tournament of the year, all national players returned to wear local jerseys to compete.
Therefore, the matches were fierce and exciting. The athletes competed in 3 categories on the stage: Lowkick, Fullcontact, K1 in a knockout format. Each match consisted of 3 rounds, each round was 2 minutes long with a 1-minute break between rounds. The home team Bac Ninh had 7 athletes competing in all categories: Lowkick, Fullcontact and K1.
After the qualifying round, the athletes entered the semi-finals and quarter-finals on June 17-18. In the matches tomorrow, June 18, the most notable match is between the reigning SEA Games champion and Asian runner-up Trieu Phuong Thuy and boxer Tran Thi Tuoi, 52kg class.
With her current achievements and form, Trieu Phuong Thuy is showing that she has almost no rivals in domestic tournaments. However, the Dao ethnic girl is always modest: "In the past time, under the training of the teachers, I have tried hard to practice. And currently I am in good physical and mental condition. However, we are not allowed to be subjective against any opponent, so I will try to focus to compete well in tomorrow's match."
June 18 is also the day Thuy celebrates her birthday, entering a new age. The girl is full of hope: "In my new age, I will continue to try to practice and compete well, to conquer new heights with Vietnamese Kickboxing."
Not only Trieu Phuong Thuy's match, from tomorrow until June 22, exciting matches of the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals will take place at Bac Ninh Provincial Gymnasium.
