(Fatherland) - Being recognized as a Traditional Craft of Thua Thien Hue province has opened up many new directions to preserve, conserve and promote Bao Vinh blacksmithing (Huong Vinh ward, Hue city).

Bao Vinh blacksmithing is a long-standing profession, originating from Hien Luong village, which is famous for its traditional blacksmithing and iron craft hundreds of years ago.

According to research, more than 100 years ago, people began to migrate to Bao Vinh area, gradually forming a blacksmithing village. Up to now, the blacksmithing profession has been associated with the cultural life of Bao Vinh residential group in Huong Vinh ward, Hue city.

According to the People's Committee of Huong Vinh Ward, currently, in Bao Vinh Residential Group, there are 28 households with 42 people involved in the blacksmithing profession.

Bao Vinh's blacksmith products are not only limited to production tools but also have diversified products, many types, better quality, more beautiful designs, and are consumed in most provinces and cities in the Central region.

In recent years, Bao Vinh's traditional forged products have quickly established a solid position in the market. Consumers' preference for Bao Vinh forged products is increasing thanks to the outstanding durability of the products.

Forged items not only meet household needs, but are also popular in agricultural production, food processing, construction, etc.

This is the reason why Bao Vinh's forged products are not only present in the provincial market, but also appear in markets outside the province.

Recently, the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province issued Decision No. 3040/QD-UBND dated November 26, 2024 on recognizing Bao Vinh blacksmithing as a traditional craft of Thua Thien Hue province. This information made the blacksmiths in Bao Vinh excited and happy.

“I am very happy to hear that Bao Vinh blacksmithing has been recognized as a traditional craft of the province. I hope that the forged products will be displayed at Hue Traditional Craft Festivals and promoted to many places,” said Mr. Truong Ty (Huong Vinh Ward, Hue City).

Mr. Ta Duong Anh Tuan, Chairman of Huong Vinh Ward People's Committee, said that Bao Vinh blacksmithing being recognized as a traditional craft of the province is not only a great honor for the people, but also a worthy recognition for the great contributions that blacksmithing has brought to the economic, cultural and social life of Huong Vinh Ward.

To maintain and develop Bao Vinh blacksmithing in the coming time, the local government will focus on supporting, restoring and developing the traditional blacksmithing profession, creating favorable conditions for households to participate in production and business activities. Mobilizing households to continue developing the traditional blacksmithing profession in the locality. Investing in advanced machinery and equipment to improve capacity and production scale.

Along with that, it will encourage people to maintain the manual method to preserve the traditional, sophisticated features from the skilled hands of the blacksmith.

"In the coming time, the local government will coordinate with functional agencies, as well as proactively and creatively organize events to introduce Bao Vinh forged products to consumers inside and outside the province. From there, it will increase the commercial value and help the forged products of Huong Vinh ward to develop further," Mr. Ta Duong Anh Tuan shared.
