The program was initiated and implemented by Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper since early 2023, aiming to accompany and support coastal fishermen. Up to now, the program has taken place in 22 out of 28 coastal provinces and cities nationwide, with a total implementation cost of more than 30 billion VND.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Thai Binh, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper - Head of the Program Organizing Committee said: "This is a volunteer activity with profound social significance and noble human values. We wish to contribute to supporting fishermen to stay at sea, and at the same time, together with the Government and local authorities, gradually remove the 'yellow card' that the European Commission applied to the Vietnamese seafood industry."

In 21 previously organized localities, the program not only presented thousands of gifts and scholarships to fishermen and their children, but also promoted the dissemination of laws on legal seafood exploitation, contributing to raising public awareness and promoting sustainable marine economic development.

In Nghe An alone, the Organizing Committee presented 100 gifts to fishermen, each worth more than 4 million VND; and awarded 30 scholarships (each worth about 3 million VND) to students who are children of fishermen in difficult circumstances but have overcome difficulties to study well. In addition, the program also coordinated with medical facilities to organize free medical examinations and provide free medicine to 2,000 people in coastal areas.
