Artist Duy Son - Vo Minh Lam's father passed away due to a stroke

Vo Minh Lam is currently unable to return home to mourn his father because he has to participate in the Vang trang co nhac night organized by HTV tonight. In the program, he will perform a traditional song with Meritorious Artist Ngoc Doi. The artist does not want his personal matters to affect the crew. After the performance, he will return to Can Tho to take care of his father's funeral.

Previously, artist Vo Minh Lam shared about his father who passed on his passion for reformed opera to him. His father - artist Duy Son was once a famous leading actor, working in many places.

During a performance, Duy Son met and fell in love with the daughter of the troupe leader. They fell in love and became husband and wife. When she became pregnant, she had to stop performing and, because she missed her husband, took a bus to Hue to visit him.

After several days of traveling by car, as soon as she arrived, she went into labor. Vo Minh Lam was born in "the joy of all the uncles and aunts in the group, blessed to be the successor of his parents".

Parents are Vo Minh Lam's first teachers.

Vo Minh Lam grew up traveling with his parents near and far. However, Duy Son and his wife did not want their son to follow the profession because they thought that cai luong artists had no future and were subject to many prejudices.

"My father was the first teacher who taught me how to sing and act. He always encouraged me and taught me valuable lessons in the profession, especially the spirit of respecting teachers," Vo Minh Lam shared.

Artist Duy Son, born in 1960, was once a prominent leading actor of the Western region's reformed opera troupes. When reformed opera declined, he gradually limited his activities and left the stage in the early 2000s.

For his son, Duy Son returned to the stage to film the neo-traditional music video Beautiful Love in the Rambutan Season with Meritorious Artist Phuong Hong Thuy. Not long ago, he participated in the play Hon vong phu (original: Luu Quang Vu; adapted: Moc Linh) directed by artist Chi Linh at Tran Huu Trang Theater.

It was the first time artist Duy Son performed on the same stage with his son. Vo Minh Lam was planning to make many traditional music videos for his father but he suddenly passed away.
