Foreign languages ​​are the top choice for the 2025 high school graduation exam of 12th graders in Ho Chi Minh City.

On the afternoon of May 8, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announced the data on 12th grade students choosing subjects for the 2025 high school graduation exam.

Accordingly, out of a total of 10 elective subjects, including: foreign languages, physics, chemistry, geography, history, economics, biology, information technology, technology - agriculture, technology - industry, the subject chosen by most candidates is foreign languages ​​with 49,328 students (50.37%), followed by physics with 43,176 students (44.08%).

Next are the subjects: chemistry with 27,796 registered students, geography with 25,220 registered students, history with 24,074 registered students, biology with 8,073 registered students, economic and legal education with 15,143 registered students.

The three subjects include: information technology, technology - agriculture and technology - industry, which have relatively few registered candidates. Of which, 737 students registered for information technology, 213 students registered for technology - agriculture, and 109 students registered for technology - industry.

The high school graduation exam will take place on June 26 and 27. This year, Ho Chi Minh City expects to have about 100,000 candidates taking the exam, of which about 97,940 are 12th graders.

From 2025, candidates taking the high school graduation exam according to the 2018 program must take two subjects, including literature and mathematics, and choose two subjects from the subjects they have studied to be considered for high school graduation recognition. In which, the literature subject will be tested in essay form, the remaining subjects are expected to be tested in multiple choice form.

Also according to the announcement of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, this year Ho Chi Minh City has 1,724 candidates exempted from the foreign language exam, accounting for 1.76%.

According to data from the Ministry of Education and Training, the average foreign language score of high school graduation students in the past 10 years, Ho Chi Minh City has always had the leading results nationwide.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, this year the country has 1.16 million candidates taking the high school graduation exam. Of these, nearly 500,000 candidates registered to take the history exam, the most among the elective subjects.
