Provincial Road 272 from Hoa Binh Commune - Tan Long Commune - National Highway 1B is less than 10 km long and has been paved since 2000. After 2010, the road began to deteriorate due to the activities of large and small trucks entering and exiting the Quang Son and Tan Long quarries.
Mr. Duong Quy Tai, Lan Quan hamlet, Tan Long commune, said indignantly: For nearly 10 years, provincial road 272 has been completely damaged, affecting the economic development of our people. Only trucks carrying rocks to and from the mines operate day and night, while passenger cars or regular cargo trucks cannot travel because the road is so bad. Even riding a motorbike is very difficult, so the exchange of goods increases in cost, but reduces the price; taking children to school is also very difficult, when it rains the road is full of mud and water holes, when it is sunny the dust is as thick as the sky.
To verify the actual traffic on Provincial Road 272, the reporter chose the border between Pho Hich hamlet and Tan Do hamlet, Hoa Binh commune. Only from 8:15 to 9:30 (August 14), there were more than 60 trucks from small 5-ton trucks to 4-axle tractors going back and forth to the quarries in Tan Long and Quang Son communes. There were very few people traveling by motorbike between Hoa Binh and Tan Long communes and there were no other means of transportation.
Ms. Tran Thi Hau, who has been selling agricultural supplies for 30 years in Pho Hich hamlet, shared: Since the year 2000, Hich market has not only been the largest market in Dong Hy district, but also attracted people from neighboring communes and traders from all over (inside and outside Thai Nguyen province) to come here to buy and sell tea. Since 2010, the roads have become difficult to travel, and people coming to the market are no longer as before, making trading more difficult. Traders and tea producers now gather more at Minh Lap commune market to buy and sell, because the traffic there is convenient.
Previously, Mrs. Hau only specialized in selling fertilizers, agricultural supplies, and animal feed, but now the goods are sluggish due to competition and bad roads, which have limited people's production development. Therefore, her family has to import many other items such as furniture, electronics, refrigeration, etc. to diversify products and increase revenue.
Mr. Hoang Hong Nhat, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoa Binh Commune, informed that Provincial Road 272 has been degraded for more than 10 years, but the complete damage to the road surface occurred about 6 years ago. That was the time when Provincial Road 273 from Hoa Binh Commune to National Highway 1b (Hoa Thuong - Minh Lap - Hoa Binh) was built and put into use. At this time, the section of Road 272 from the mining area (Quang Son, Tan Long) to Road 273 could no longer bear the weight of hundreds of trucks carrying materials traveling every day.
For many years, voters and local leaders have continuously petitioned all levels and sectors to pay attention to investing in upgrading Provincial Road 272. The locality has also called on businesses to contribute to repairing the road and providing machinery to level it so that people can travel more conveniently, but the effectiveness of this has not been as expected because the temporarily leveled road only lasts a few days and becomes uneven again.
Speaking to Dai Doan Ket Newspaper reporter, Mr. Ngo Xuan Huy, Vice Chairman of Dong Hy District People's Committee said that the degradation of Route 272 has been happening for many years, but the locality does not have the resources to invest. The district has reported this issue to Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee and the investment plan has been considered, but due to remaining problems, it is not known when the project can be implemented.
While waiting for funding, the District People's Committee has directed the specialized departments and communes where Provincial Road 272 passes through to proactively mobilize people to donate land and create favorable conditions for the project to be implemented most smoothly.
