Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên14/03/2024

People, including those living in Tin Phong apartment building, are protesting this project because they believe it could cause environmental pollution, noise, and affect people's health.

Mr. Le Thanh Cong, Head of the Management Board of Tin Phong Apartment, said: The wastewater treatment station is located right next to the front of the Tin Phong apartment complex, so it will directly affect the environment as well as the lives and health of the community of residents living in the apartment building and neighboring residents. Therefore, people proposed to move the wastewater treatment station to a more suitable location.

At the conference, the investor representative, the District 12 Construction Investment Project Management Board, affirmed: The wastewater treatment plant is invested and built at a location suitable for planning, ensuring environmental protection (The project's environmental impact assessment report and design documents have been approved). The project aims to treat domestic wastewater generated from resettlement housing areas, school areas, administrative - cultural - infrastructure areas and concentrated parks.

Phase 1 of the wastewater treatment plant with an average flow of 1,000 m3 /day and night applies modern technology. The treated wastewater is always stable and meets type A standards according to Vietnamese standards before being connected to the receiving source, approved by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. To ensure environmental sanitation, the project design is surrounded by 4 layers of isolated green trees including 1 layer of street trees and 3 layers of trees including royal poinciana and camphor.

Leaders of District 12 People's Committee dialogue with residents

Mr. Dau An Phuc, Vice Chairman of District 12 People's Committee, also affirmed that this is a project to build a wastewater treatment station, not a waste transfer station, because the waste transfer station has now been moved to another location. The wastewater treatment station is built with a tank underneath, and above is the operator house and landscape. The legal process of the project is in compliance with regulations. The planning approval process also collects people's opinions according to regulations. However, because the project has been taking too long, there may be people who will not be consulted later. Mr. Phuc requested that the investor provide full information to the people and is ready to continue to listen and dialogue with the people, especially the more than 400 households of Tin Phong apartment building, to publicize information and find common ground.

"The 38-hectare resettlement project is a key project of District 12 that is being implemented. According to the plan, by the end of 2024, items such as traffic systems, electricity, water supply and drainage, lighting, parks, etc. must be completed to proceed with handing over the resettlement land to the people and continuing to implement the component projects. The construction of the Wastewater Treatment Plant in the 38-hectare project area has been approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and has been carried out in accordance with the procedures and regulations, contributing to bringing fresh air to the area. Therefore, the understanding, sharing and consensus of the people is one of the biggest contributions to help District 12 complete the projects, especially the wastewater treatment project in Tan Thoi Nhat ward", Mr. Phuc shared.
