Since studying at the Ho Chi Minh City People's Police University, Duong Tan Binh has always been a seed in the school's and the city's Youth Union's cultural movements. When working at the Dak Lak Provincial Police, Duong Tan Binh composed his first song on the topic of the People's Public Security: "March of the Patrol Police Soldiers". The song is the author's emotional vibration when witnessing the image of the silent soldiers patrolling at night, on the roads and alleys, maintaining security and order, protecting the peace of the people's sleep. This song won the A Prize at the Dak Lak Provincial Police Mass Performance in 2000, becoming a memorable mark, adding motivation to him on his path of composing.
Having worked in many positions at the Detention Center, Youth Work Department, Mobile Police Department, Political Work Department, Duong Tan Binh has a deeper understanding of the life and work of each force. This special working environment has become a valuable material, nurturing his emotions and urging him to write vibrant marches such as: "Song of the Prison Warden", "Song of the Youth Police", "Song of the Female Police Soldier"... reflecting the real life and silent sacrifices of the police soldiers.

One of the most memorable memories in his composing career is the love story of his comrades. In 2004, when witnessing the beautiful love of Mr. Tuan - an officer of the Ministry of Public Security and Ms. H'Uyen, an Ede girl, a local police officer, moved by the camaraderie, camaraderie and simple happiness, musician Duong Tan Binh wrote the song "Coming to you in the Central Highlands" with sweet, romantic melodies and lyrics like a Central Highlands love song: "You, a man from the North, come to my hometown in the green plateau/ With a little gift of the sincerity of a security soldier/ For the homeland, for the mountains and forests, for my village to be peaceful... I am a mountain girl in the Central Highlands with poetic basalt love/ With a ring full of vows waiting for you to give it to me... For the jar of rice wine like our love to flow...". This song won Second Prize at the 2005 CAND Mass Arts Performance.
Recently, the song “Story with Dak Trung” by musician Duong Tan Binh, with lyrics by Nie Thanh Mai, has consecutively won high awards: B Prize at the 2024 National Music Festival and B Prize at the 80th Anniversary of the Glory of the Vietnam People's Public Security Composition Campaign organized by the Ministry of Public Security in coordination with the Vietnam Musicians Association. This song was born from a special and equally thorny topic: Prison - a place where, in order to complete their tasks, prison officers and soldiers must also face countless hardships and dangers. Only by deeply understanding the work of his comrades, the musician could play emotional melodies: “I will tell you about my comrades. The silent police officers, like the silent sunflowers in the night, exuding a fragrant scent. Oh dear Dak Trung! Oh the hills, the winding roads covered in cool shade, the green light of compassion and tolerance for so many unfortunate lives. Oh Dak Trung, oh comrades… so silent but so glorious…”.
Up to now, musician Duong Tan Binh's musical legacy has nearly 400 songs, of which nearly 50 songs on the theme of the People's Public Security stand out. Notably, the song "We would like to report our achievements to Him" won the Encouragement Prize in 2006 from the Ministry of Public Security and was the first award from the Vietnam Musicians Association.
