Duyet Thi Duong (Théatre Royal) is a large-scale architectural work, with the main function of being a royal theater.

Located in the Southeast corner, inside the Forbidden City - Hue , Duyet Thi Duong (Théatre Royal) is a large-scale architectural work, with the main function of being the royal theater.

Existing for more than 200 years with the changes of the times, Duyet Thi Duong is today used as the stage of the Hue Royal Traditional Arts Theater.

Built in 1826 under the reign of King Minh Mang, on the old foundation of the Thanh Phong Duong (1805), Duyet Thi Duong was a place reserved for the King, royal relatives, mandarins, and guests of the court to watch art performances (mainly royal Tuong plays). In addition, Duyet Thi Duong was also the place to hold special festivals such as the 40th birthdays of kings Minh Mang, Tu Duc, Dong Khanh, Khai Dinh... The participants were civil and military mandarins, princes, royal brothers... In 1833 (Minh Mang 14th year), the Nguyen Dynasty organized the minting of "Minh Mang phi long" coins right at this location.

Having existed for more than 200 years with the changes of the times, Duyet Thi Duong is now used as the stage of the Hue Royal Traditional Arts Theater to perform royal court music, dance and plays for tourists to enjoy when they have the opportunity to visit the Hue Royal Palace.

Along with Duyet Thi Duong Theater, recently, according to the ranking of Vietnam Record Organization (VietKings) - Vietnam TOP Center (Topplus) recognized Hue Royal Antiquities Museum as Top 10 Vietnamese museums attracting many visitors.

Hue Royal Antiquities Museum and Duyet Thi Duong Theater are two of the important structures in the complex of relics recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage in 1993. These are definitely must-see destinations for those who love to learn about history, art, especially the Nguyen Dynasty.
