Ho Chi Minh City Opera House brings the play "Hero" to the capital to compete

A new perspective on historical heroes

The work, directed by Vo Ho Hoang Vu and adapted by People's Artist Huynh Huu Danh, explores the psychological depth of historical heroes such as Truong Dinh - a general with a heart that knows pain, knows how to choose, and the more tragedy, the more the spirit of "sacrificing oneself for the country" and the indomitable spirit of Nguyen Trung Truc shines brightly.

This is the point that makes the script's mark: bringing historical figures from monuments to real life, so that today's audience can feel more clearly the indomitable spirit of determination to die for the Fatherland in the heroic script of author Vuong Huyen Co.

The artistic direction of Meritorious Artist Nguyen Hoang Vinh helps the play maintain the spirit of hát bội, which is typical of Ho Chi Minh City. Within the framework of the festival, the creative team has cleverly opened up a more modern stage space, rich in interaction and clear rhythm - creating a new attraction for the capital's audience, promising to create many surprises at this year's festival.

A group of passionate opera artists

The cast of the HCM City Opera House is the factor that contributes to the success of the play "Hero". It can be mentioned: Artist Thanh Binh (Truong Dinh) performs with a dignified demeanor, a rich voice and expressive weight, creating the image of a general who is both resilient and troubled; Artist Bao Chau (Nguyen Trung Truc) has a strong style, burning with chivalry when portraying the character; Artist Ngoc Giau (Mrs. Dieu) and Artist Kieu My (Mrs. Hong) - two loyal female lines, smoothly expressing the traditional "earth lady" acting quality.

In addition, the roles of Huynh Cong Tan (Khong Minh Khuong), Do Huu Phuong (Hoang Ha), Quan Phap (Dong Ho)... created a clear historical contrast, supporting the main line.

The tight structure of the play with many conflicting situations brought a lot of emotion to the story.

With a disciplined training spirit and the actors' increasingly improved skills, the HCM City Opera Theatre has persistently kept the flame of opera alive for decades in HCM City. In this debut, the theatre promises to reap artistic fame.

Epic artistic and musical imprints

Music by Meritorious Artist Tran Vuong Thach and scenery by Van Tong combined traditional melodies with a contemporary rhythm. Meanwhile, stage design by artist Tran Hong Van used simple but effective symbols.

The costumes and makeup by Khong Minh Khuong are standard opera costumes, helping to highlight the personalities of each character. The lighting and sound are coordinated appropriately, especially in the scene where Truong Dinh faces the moment of life and death - where the heroic image shines in the midst of a tragic atmosphere.

The play is also a testament to the persistent efforts of the HCM City Opera House in its journey to bring opera – the most ancient art form in Vietnam – back to its worthy position in contemporary theatrical life.
