In the preface of the book, author Luong Van Can emphasized that: "There are three immortal things that the ancients left behind: one is to establish virtue, two is to establish merit, three is to establish speech. If one has virtue to represent a person, people will worship him immensely, if one has merit to save people. Speech is the voice of the stomach, if one has thoughts, then one will speak, if one speaks with a reasonable meaning, everyone will consider it right, and for generations to come, one will consider it right, because of those words one will establish virtue, achieve great merit, then the words will be passed down forever, even for generations to come, they will not change".
Always praising human honor as more precious than a thousand gold pieces and devoting a lifetime to awakening people's knowledge, promoting the spirit of national self-reliance and reviving the country, he wrote: " The value of good honor is more precious than wearing a gold belt" or: "Establishing honor takes a lifetime of effort, but losing it only takes a moment; success is difficult but failure is so easy."
Luong Van Can was originally Luong Ngoc Can (nickname On Nhu), nickname Son Lao; born in the year of Giap Dan 1854 in Hanoi . After graduating with a bachelor's degree in Chinese studies, in 1907 he and his colleagues opened the Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc School and became its principal. In 1913, he was sentenced by the French colonialists to exile to Nam Vang (Phnom Penh, Cambodia) for participating in inciting anti-government agitation. In 1921, he returned home to Hanoi, opened a school to teach and write books. He died in 1927.
