The project is also the result of the proactive and active participation of the Government leaders, ministries, branches and Binh Duong province in promptly seizing investment cooperation opportunities to welcome new generation FDI capital flows in a green, sustainable and environmentally friendly direction.
Mr. Jesper Hassellund Mikkelsen, General Director of LEGO Manufacturing Vietnam, said that the LEGO factory project in Binh Duong is the fastest progressing project among the group's factories with the same area. Previously, the group had tested the production plant (phase 1 and 1A, capacity of 30,000 tons of products/year). When put into operation, the factory can meet the same strict quality and safety standards as all LEGO factories worldwide .
The LEGO Vietnam factory aims to achieve LEED Gold certification for the entire project and LEED Platinum for the office building. Covering an area of 44 hectares, equivalent to 62 football fields, the factory includes office buildings, an energy center, production areas, automated warehouses, equipped with modern equipment to ensure product accuracy up to 1/10 the thickness of a hair.
The Binh Duong project is part of LEGO’s strategy to expand its global manufacturing network, shortening the supply chain and reducing environmental impact. The Binh Duong factory not only contributes to local economic development but also helps the LEGO Group get closer to key markets in the Asia- Pacific region, providing opportunities for learning and creative play for children around the world.
According to the provincial leaders, the LEGO project in Binh Duong province is the largest high-tech project invested in the province since the Covid-19 pandemic. With decades of experience in attracting investment and a smart and sustainable development strategy in the future, Binh Duong is confident that this will be a suitable location for the LEGO Group to develop long-term and produce and do business effectively. The Binh Duong provincial government is committed to creating the best conditions for the group throughout the process of development, construction and operation in the province, contributing positively to the socio-economic development of the locality in particular and the country in general.
Mr. Vo Van Minh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, commented that LEGO's project is a new "green milestone" in the FDI flow into Vietnam in general and Binh Duong province in particular. The fact that a reputable enterprise like LEGO has chosen Binh Duong as a strategic destination is of great significance in promoting FDI growth, while also enhancing Binh Duong's reputation among investors, especially investors from Europe.
The LEGO Group (Denmark) toy factory broke ground on November 3, 2022 in VSIP III Industrial Park. The project has a total investment of more than 1.3 billion USD. This is the largest factory among 6 factories worldwide of the LEGO Group. In particular, with a land use area of up to 44.79 hectares, the company can expand its operations and develop production in the future. |
