In Nha Trang City ( Khanh Hoa Province), vagrants and beggars have reappeared at central markets, intersections and busy roads. Even at some cafes, restaurants and public places, these people cling to tourists to ask for money.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Phuc (residing in Phuoc Hai ward) said that many times when passing through the intersection of Nguyen Trai - Lac Long Quan street in the hot midday sun, there were still people sitting under the traffic light poles holding out their hands to ask for money.

“To make Nha Trang a livable place, I hope the city has a long-term solution to support the stable lives of homeless people and beggars, contributing to building a civilized urban environment and a friendly tourist destination,” Mr. Phuc shared.

According to the Nha Trang City People's Committee, in the past time, the Nha Trang City People's Committee has assigned the Health Department to direct Team 524 (a specialized team in charge of handling vagrants and beggars) to regularly patrol inner-city roads, coastal areas, tourist attractions, markets, pagodas, crossroads, historical sites and public places where disguised begging is likely to occur. At the same time, coordinate with functional forces and People's Committees of communes and wards to inspect and handle cases of taking advantage of street vendors, people with disabilities, the elderly and children to beg for money.

Since the beginning of the year, Team 524 has coordinated with relevant units to focus on and handle 16 subjects (13 men, 3 women) and send them to the Provincial Social Protection Center for management according to regulations. Most of these subjects come from other localities.

To minimize the situation of wandering and begging in the area in the coming time, Nha Trang City People's Committee has directed relevant units and People's Committees of communes and wards to implement a number of solutions such as maintaining and strengthening patrolling, inspection and handling at hotspots of wandering and begging.

Strengthen coordination in propaganda and dissemination of the hotline number of Team 524 (02583.525.440) so that people can promptly report when detecting violations.

In particular, the People's Committees of communes and wards are responsible for grasping the living conditions of people in difficult circumstances, implementing social security policies well, and at the same time strictly managing social protection beneficiaries, not allowing the weak to be taken advantage of to beg.
