Recently, IBA world champion Tran Van Thao (15 wins - 1 loss) confirmed that he will compete with opponent Kauko Raka in mid-July in Vietnam. It is known that Van Thao has to increase 3 weight classes for the above confrontation.
"The opponent's weight class is super featherweight (59kg) and Thao's is bantamweight (53.5kg). In this match, Thao increased her weight by 3 classes to enter the ring," said Tran Van Thao.

Raka, 30 years old, is a boxer from Papua New Guinea. In his career, Raka has only fought 4 times and has 2 wins - 2 losses. Despite his unimpressive record, Raka has the advantage in physique. This boxer revealed that he has carefully studied Van Thao's fighting style.
"I watched his matches and saw some weaknesses. I also studied his movement. One of Van Thao's weaknesses is that he doesn't move much when he's in the ring. He mainly moves forward," Raka shared about the confrontation.

In November 2017, Tran Van Thao made a splash when he defeated opponent George Lumoly to become the first Vietnamese boxer to own the WBC Asia belt. Since then, the boxer from Ho Chi Minh City has maintained stability and had many impressive victories against strong opponents.
Late last year, the 31-year-old boxer had the opportunity to compete for the IBA world bantamweight title against Andrew Laurio. Here, Van Thao won by knockout to become the first Vietnamese male boxer to win the world championship.
