The General Secretary said Vietnam's vision and development orientation in the coming time, implementing two 100-year goals: becoming a developing country with modern industry and high average income by 2030; becoming a developed country with high income by 2045.

The General Secretary discussed with President Sulyok Tamás a number of major directions and measures to promote relations between the two countries.

He affirmed that Hungary always cherishes the good traditional friendship and considers Vietnam a leading partner in Southeast Asia.

Cooperation between Hungary's ruling Fidesz Party and the Communist Party of Vietnam is an important channel to strengthen and promote bilateral relations.

The two leaders agreed to strengthen political trust and ties between the two countries and ruling parties, promote delegation exchanges, and boost cooperation in trade, investment, science and technology, innovation, and education and training. Defense and security should become a new pillar in cooperation and the two sides should promote people-to-people exchanges.

The Hungarian President highly appreciated the important role of the Vietnamese community and Vietnamese students in Hungary as an important contributor to the local socio-economy.

The Vietnamese National Assembly pledged to work with the Government and relevant agencies to implement the agreements reached during the visit.

The National Assembly Chairman thanked Hungary for helping Vietnam train many university and postgraduate officials who have made important contributions to Vietnam's development and fostered the friendship between the two nations.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man assessed that cooperation between the two countries is developing dynamically, especially in the economy, with two-way trade turnover reaching nearly 1 billion USD in 2024.

However, this figure is not commensurate with the potential. The two sides need to take advantage of and promote the effectiveness of existing cooperation mechanisms, taking advantage of the advantages of the Vietnam - EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) to promote the growth of bilateral trade and investment in the coming time.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man thanked the Hungarian National Assembly and government for creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to integrate and stabilize their lives.

The Hungarian President affirmed his support and will continue to urge the European Commission (EC) to soon remove the IUU Yellow Card on Vietnamese seafood exports.

The National Assembly Chairman suggested that the two countries' National Assemblies increase exchanges of young parliamentarians, organize regular bilateral parliamentary forums, and cooperate in building legal frameworks to support digital transformation and environmental protection.
