The analysis, conducted by Switch on Business, outlined how they arrived at their results after exploring employee profiles across LinkedIn. First, the workforce data was captured at leading tech giants such as Nvidia, Amazon, Google, IBM, Netflix, Apple, Salesforce, Uber, Tesla, Meta, Adobe, Microsoft, and Oracle.

Next, Switch on Business looked at the original list of employees who had previously worked at other companies at each major tech company, and calculated the number and percentage of current employees at each tech giant who previously worked at other major tech companies.

For Apple, the study found that most employees previously worked at Intel, Google, Nvidia, Amazon, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, Meta, Tesla, and Adobe.

Employees leaving Apple tend to prefer Google

Intel leads Apple in hiring, which makes sense given the iPhone maker spent billions of dollars acquiring a unit of the company in 2019.

For those who leave Apple, Google is almost twice as likely to go to the next biggest destination, Amazon. Meta, software giant Microsoft, and Elon Musk’s Tesla all round out the top five. Nvidia, Salesforce, Adobe, and Intel are close behind, with Oracle rounding out the top 10 most popular places for Apple employees.

The overall percentage of employees at Apple who were recruited from other tech giants is just 5.7%, compared to Meta, Google, and Salesforce, which are at 26%, 25%, and 20.7%, respectively.
