On the morning of June 9, the 2025 Advanced Summer School on Quantum Field Theory and Quantum Gravity officially opened at the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science andEducation (ICISE, in Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh).

The event gathered more than 60 students, young scientists and postgraduates from 22 countries and territories, opening up a vibrant academic space where the most advanced physics ideas are shared, discussed and inspired.

The program is organized by Rencontres du Vietnam in collaboration with the ICISE Center and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), lasting from June 9 to 20. This is the second time this prestigious summer school has been held outside of France, after the resounding success in Quy Nhon City in 2023.

The highlight of the 2025 Quantum Summer School is the direct and online participation of many of the world's leading professors in the field of theoretical physics and quantum gravity, names that have contributed to shaping modern scientific thinking. Among them, Professor Juan Maldacena (Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton, USA), the father of the Maldacena hypothesis, the foundation for the deep connection between gravity and string theory.

Professor Andrew Strominger (Harvard University, USA), a pioneer in research on black holes and quantum gravity. Professor Erik Verlinde (University of Amsterdam, Netherlands) is the author of the theory of "gravity as an emergent phenomenon", a novel and challenging approach to Newton's laws.

Besides, there were many other famous scientists present, such as: Professor Shiraz Minwalla (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, India), Professor Dam Thanh Son (University of Chicago, USA), Professor Nathan Berkovits (International Center for Theoretical Physics, Brazil), Professor Suvrat Raju (International Center for Theoretical Science, India)...

The program also includes academic support from scientists from other world-leading research institutions.

Professor Tran Thanh Van, Chairman of the Vietnam Rencontres Association, said: Quantum Summer School 2025 is not only an intensive training course, but also an international forum gathering students from many countries such as the US, France, Germany, Japan, India, China, Ireland, Israel, Brazil, Iran, Argentina, Indonesia, Australia, Korea, Vietnam, etc. Here, young scientists have the opportunity to meet, exchange, learn from each other and broaden their horizons in the field of scientific research.

From the core principles of quantum field theory to advanced quantum gravity models, students will be exposed to the latest research directions through lectures, group discussions and direct interactions with leading experts in the field.

In a context where fundamental physics is becoming the foundation for technological breakthroughs such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, materials technology and particle physics, the program is not only a bridge between the next generation of scientists and their predecessors, but also a place to open up breakthrough ideas for the future.

The 2025 Summer School continues to mark Vietnam's strong progress on the international science map, affirming Quy Nhon and the ICISE Center as an attractive academic destination, where the pinnacle of world science and the knowledge aspirations of a country on the rise meet.

A journey of nearly 30 years of spreading the passion of science

The Advanced Summer School on Quantum Field Theory and Quantum Gravity was initiated almost 30 years ago by Prof. Laurent Baulieu at the Cargèse Center (Corsica, France).

Over the course of 14 editions, the event has welcomed over 1,000 international students, many of whom have become renowned scientists at leading research institutes.

The Summer School has always received academic sponsorship from more than 30 renowned theoretical physics professors, including 4 Nobel Prize winners in physics, 3 of whom have taught at scientific programs in Vietnam organized by the Rencontres du Vietnam.
