On the morning of November 28, the Vietnam - Korea Friendship Association of Dong Nai province and the Representative Office of Gyeongsangnam province in Ho Chi Minh City organized a program to introduce studying abroad in this province.
The event took place at Lac Hong University, and was also the first time a large-scale Korean study abroad introduction program was held in Dong Nai.
At the event, Mr. Park Sung Jin, Head of Gyeongsangnam Province Representative Office in Ho Chi Minh City, gave an overview of cooperation potential and policies for international students.
Gyeongsangnam is located in the southeast of South Korea, a steadily developing area with many university cities such as Jinju and Changwon.
The most prominent is Gyeongsang National University (GNU), one of the main public universities in Korea. Along with that are Changwon National University and Kyungnam University.
These are all training institutions with strengths in engineering, technology, agriculture , biomedicine and social sciences, and maintain extensive international cooperation, receiving many foreign students each year.
In addition, other universities and colleges in the province have many policies to support international students such as preparatory Korean language programs, tuition reduction scholarships, international student advisors, cultural activities and exchange programs with partner universities around the world .
Many schools also have support centers for international students, helping them get used to studying, adapting to the culture and accessing research opportunities.

At the program on November 28, universities and colleges in Korea offered quite attractive scholarships.
Namhae College of Changwon National University currently waives 100% of tuition fees for two years of study, and also supports part-time job arrangements on and near campus, helping students gain additional income and practical experience.
Gochang College, also affiliated with Changwon National University, offers full tuition waivers and organizes four cultural experience programs each year, allowing international students to integrate more quickly into local life.
In addition, Korea Elevator Engineering University offers a 50% tuition scholarship for students who achieve TOPIK 3 or higher and supports 50% of dormitory fees.
In general, admission requirements to schools in Gyeongsangnam are relatively clear and suitable for Vietnamese international students.
Accordingly, candidates only need to graduate from high school and have Korean language proficiency at TOPIK level 3 or higher to be eligible for admission to the study programs.
'Reversing' Korean students coming to study in Vietnam
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Vu Quynh, Vice Principal of Lac Hong University, said that the current cooperation between Vietnamese and Korean universities is a two-way relationship, not only Vietnamese students go to Korea but also Korean students go to Vietnam.
For example, since 2019, Namhae University has sent students to Dong Nai to study Vietnamese and participate in short-term study programs.
Or many officials of the Gyeongsangnam Province Representative Office in Ho Chi Minh City when working in Vietnam studied Vietnamese at Lac Hong University.
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Vu Quynh also emphasized the importance of expanding international educational cooperation, especially when Korea has many programs to support international students and an advanced educational environment.
