"With 13 new Bib Gourmand establishments in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City this year, our 2024 selection is an invitation to diners to explore the charm, quality and endless variety of Vietnamese cuisine ," said Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of Michelin Guide. "Whether traditional or modern, fine dining or street food, the establishments that Michelin's anonymous reviewers loved when discovering and selecting for this list are a guarantee for diners. "We want diners to enjoy authentic culinary experiences at affordable, attractive prices and explore the life of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City through one of the most important 'assets' of these cities," said the International Director of Michelin Guide. Value for money is a very important factor in evaluating every culinary business on the Bib Gourmand list. The award has been in place since 1997, and dishes must cost VND850,000 or less, according to the Singapore Tourism Board. In 2023, Michelin will come to Vietnam for the first time to assess and award stars to restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. The first four Vietnamese restaurants to be awarded one Michelin star include Anan Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City; Gia, Hibana by Koki and Tam Vi in Hanoi. "Star" is the rating system of the Michelin Guide, the world's most prestigious culinary rating organization. One star is for a restaurant that "has delicious food, worth stopping to enjoy". Two stars is for "a restaurant with excellent food quality, worth visiting". Three stars (the highest) is for a place with "excellent food quality, worth planning to come and enjoy".
