(HG O ) - On May 8 , Gene Solutions Lab Company Limited (Gene Solutions) and the Department of Health of Hau Giang province officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding to implement the program "Socializing NIPT testing for all pregnant women, improving the quality of the Vietnamese population".
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, Director of the Provincial Department of Health and Ms. Phan Thi Hue , Deputy Sales Director of Gene Solutions signed the Memorandum of Understanding.
According to Ms. Phan Thi Hue, Deputy Sales Director of Gene Solutions, the Program is expected to donate a total of 2,000 triSure NIPT tests to pregnant women nationwide, of which Gene Solutions has donated 40 triSure NIPT test samples (including 20 triSureFirst samples and 20 triSure Thalass samples) for free testing for pregnant women in difficult circumstances in Hau Giang province .
Pregnant women in the first trimester of pregnancy who participate in the Program are supported with consultation to collect 10ml of blood to do 1 of 2 types of NIPT tests for free - triSureFirst (a NIPT test that screens for common chromosomal abnormalities in the fetus including Down syndrome, Edwards syndrome, Patau syndrome) or triSure Thalass (a NIPT test that covers Down, Edwards, Patau, Turner syndromes and integrates screening for Thalassemia according to the National Population Target Program).
In case the pregnant woman has a "positive" test result and is advised and prescribed amniocentesis/chorionic villus sampling to diagnose the fetus, she will receive cost support from Gene Solutions (up to 1.5 million VND with the triSureFirst package and 3.5 million VND with triSure Thalass).
The program will run from now until June 10, 2024 and may end early if free samples run out.
The Provincial Department of Health and Gene Solutions Lab Company Limited have given 40 triSure NIPT test samples to Chau Thanh A District Medical Center, Long My Town Medical Center, Nga Bay City General Hospital, and the Provincial Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital , each unit receiving 10 samples.
The program is implemented with the desire to help pregnant women in difficult circumstances in remote and rural areas access the free triSure NIPT non-invasive prenatal screening test, effectively detecting serious genetic diseases in their children.
After the signing ceremony , the two units coordinated to organize a scientific workshop on "Updated application of genetic testing in prenatal screening and diagnosis" (photo above) , to share more about the practical benefits of NIPT testing integrated with Thalassemia screening. Instructions on the sample collection process for socialized testing for pregnant women, some recommendations for medical facilities when implementing.
