Many universities announced major changes in enrollment plans for 2026.

Many universities have begun to announce their expected enrollment plans for 2026, with changes in subject combinations, admission methods, and enrollment quotas.

From 2026, the Political Officer School announced the admission of 4 groups including C01 (Literature, Math, Physics), C03 (Literature, Math, History), C04 (Literature, Math, Geography) and D01 (Literature, Math, English). Compared to 2025, the school eliminated two groups C00 (Literature, History, Geography) and A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry).

The Border Guard Academy also announced that there are only three combinations left for both Border Guard and Law majors: C03, C04 and D01. The school will stop using A01 (Math, Physics, English), C00 and C01 from the next admission season.

Representatives of the schools said that the adjustment of the admission combination is based on the new regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training . Accordingly, each admission combination must include at least 3 subjects suitable for the training program, in which Math or Literature accounts for at least 25% of the weight. From 2026, the common subjects in the combination will have to contribute at least 50% of the admission weight.

To comply with the new regulations, schools switched to using combinations of Literature and Math as the core subjects - two compulsory subjects in the high school graduation exam, and changed the third subject.

In 2026, the University of Technology (Vietnam National University, Hanoi ) plans to enroll 4,020 students for 20 training majors. In terms of graduation exam scores, most majors use three combinations A00, A01 and X06 (Math - Physics - IT). The two majors of Biotechnology and Agricultural Technology added combination A02 (Math - Physics - Biology). Compared to last year, the school removed the combinations D01, B00 and X26 (Math - English - IT).

With direct admission, the school gives priority to recruiting students who are excellent at national and international levels in Math, Physics, Chemistry, IT, and Biology (Biology only applies to Biotechnology and Agricultural Technology). At the same time, the school plans not to consider candidates who have won national and international science and technology awards.

Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine said that in 2026, the school will enroll 13 majors, including a new major in Anesthesia and Resuscitation. The Faculty of Medicine will add an English enhancement program, while the Faculty of Nursing will open a new major in Emergency Medicine outside the hospital.

The school plans to apply 3 admission methods: direct admission, based on high school graduation exam scores and other methods. Math is a compulsory subject, and the difference in scores between groups is not taken into account. For groups with English, candidates use high school graduation exam scores, not converted from certificates.

Meanwhile, Nha Trang University enrolls students in three ways, without considering academic records, with about 3,800 quotas for 71 training programs. The school only converts English scores from IELTS certificates (from 5.0 and above) and does not add incentive points to ensure fairness.

Previously, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry said that the 2026 enrollment plan has many changes. In addition to a small number of direct admissions, the rest of the school plans to consider a combination of many factors: High school graduation exam scores; Capacity assessment scores; Academic records; Outstanding achievements. In which, graduation exam scores and capacity assessment play a key role. The official plan will be announced by the school in the near future.
