After a decade of development, with 17 seasons of organization, Vietnam International Fashion Week has left new impressions, bringing many Vietnamese fashion brands to international level, opening up opportunities for exchange, cooperation and investment development for the Vietnamese fashion industry.

Through the theme Fashion Evolution, the organizers hope to inspire Vietnamese designers, brands and consumers to explore the development of Vietnamese fashion over the past decade. This fashion week not only brings together famous Vietnamese and international designers, but also serves as a launching pad for many young designers and a new generation of models to shine.

After a long journey, now Vietnamese models not only have the opportunity to walk in the world's top fashion weeks, but Vietnamese designers have also become noticed and ordered by global stars.

Sharing about this 10-year journey, Ms. Trang Le, President of the Association of Southeast Asian Fashion Designers (CAFD) and President of Vietnam International Fashion Week, said: "Vietnam International Fashion Week is increasingly affirming its position and influence on the Vietnamese fashion industry. Wherever there is a fashion week, there is civilization and integration. We are proud to be the only international-class fashion show in Vietnam that gathers many famous domestic and foreign designers and fashion brands; fulfilling the mission of bringing the quintessence of domestic fashion to the world, and being a bridge to bring world fashion trends to Vietnam".

Currently, Vietnam International Fashion Week is considered by experts to be the leading international fashion week in Southeast Asia, and the fourth in Asia. The organizers of Vietnam International Fashion Week also said that they will establish and launch the Vietnam Fashion Association in the near future, with the vision of making Vietnam not only a country with a garment export processing industry, but also a country with a developed fashion industry in the region and around the world. Vietnam fashion will follow the development direction of the world, taking sustainable fashion as the core, thereby helping to raise the level and develop further.

Vietnamese designer makes big impression

The force of Vietnamese designers is becoming more and more "powerful", both in quantity and quality. Not only are the "big names" in the Vietnamese fashion industry still present at the opening night such as Nguyen Cong Tri, Duc Hung..., but the catwalk is also brilliant and overwhelming with designs that strongly follow international fashion trends by Vietnamese faces such as: Vo Cong Khanh, Adrian Anh Tuan, Thuy Nguyen, Ly Giam Tien, Thao Nguyen, Devon Nguyen, Hoang Minh Ha, Ha Linh Thu, Vu Viet Ha, Nguyen Chi Nghia...

Vietnam International Fashion Week is not only a fashion show for famous Vietnamese designers to unleash their creativity, but also introduces potential young Gen Z design talents of the Vietnamese fashion industry, such as in the fall-winter season at the end of last year, there were prominent names such as Ivan Tran, Phan Dang Hoang, Nguyen Thanh Danh, Pham Tran Thu Hang...

The different, fresh, and even rebellious fashion personalities of these new faces have received attention and encouragement from experts and audiences so that they can make steady and further progress. Phan Dang Hoang (23 years old) recently launched the Sonder collection (roughly translated: The uniqueness in each person's private life) at Milan Fashion Week 2024, inspired by the steadfast spirit and femininity in the paintings of famous artist Le Thi Luu, and was selected by Italian Vogue magazine as one of the 5 designers with the most outstanding collections.

In recent years, Vietnamese fashion designs have been chosen by many international stars to wear at major entertainment events around the world, helping the names of many Vietnamese designers such as Cong Tri, Chung Thanh Phong, Tran Hung, Nguyen Minh Tuan, Tra Linh, Anh Thu... shine in the international market, while affirming their position as "new stars" of the Vietnamese fashion industry.

Designer Cong Tri commented: "Young Vietnamese designers are talented and have a very methodical journey and strategy to build their brand, which is a positive sign for the entire Vietnamese fashion industry. There are many ways for Vietnamese designers to reach global customers, and social networks and media have also helped erase geographical distances."

Opportunities for Vietnamese models to go international

This year, the fashion week also created an opportunity for Vietnamese models to "join" the world's leading agency (company, model agency) from Paris (France), Women Management, when it organized a live audition right at the Vietnam International Fashion Week catwalk. Many international agencies recognized the potential of Vietnamese models, so they offered to combine the audition with strict standards on height and body proportions..., helping promising Vietnamese models to be able to come to the big catwalks in the world's fashion capitals in the near future.
