BHG - Building a new rural area (NTM) is an important stepping stone for comprehensive and sustainable socio-economic development. For the mountainous district of Dong Van, the journey to build a new rural area is a long and arduous journey. Of the 19 criteria, there are always difficult criteria that require the participation of Party committees, authorities and consensus of the people. In particular, the expansion and consolidation of rural roads is identified as important and urgent. Complete rural traffic infrastructure will open up many opportunities for people in disadvantaged villages to develop production, connect trade of goods as well as improve the quality of life.

Focusing on developing transport infrastructure, in recent times, many rural roads have been opened in Dong Van district thanks to the joint efforts of the people. About 3 km from the center of Thai Phin Tung commune, a group of 7 households in Ha Bua Da village live quite isolated. The road to the group of households is about 400 m long, and for many years has been slippery and rocky, making it difficult to travel. In February 2024, after receiving cement support from the state, 7 households in the village decided to donate more land to expand the road, each household agreed to contribute an additional 25 million VND to buy more materials such as sand and gravel. With their wholehearted contribution, up to now, the 1.5 m wide solid concrete road has been completed, making people happier and more excited than ever.

Mr. Ly Mi Cho, Head of Ha Bua Da village, said: Out of 7 households in the group, 6 are poor. However, when mobilizing to donate land, labor, and money to build the road, everyone agreed. Although the land area is scarce, the households donated enough to build the road. Since the new road was built, people have been able to travel more conveniently and take their children to school much easier.

It is known that in 2023, Dong Van district supported 720 tons of cement for some villages to build concrete roads, completing 13.52 km of roads. Of which, people donated over 12,000 m2 of land; contributed over 4,400 working days; contributed 2,733 million VND in cash to build the new rural area; upgraded 15,773 m of rural roads; opened new dirt and stone roads with a cumulative total of 1,320 m; built 15,436 m of rural roads.

Comrade Dinh Chi Thanh, Chairman of Dong Van District People's Committee, said: Currently, in the district, there are still some villages and groups of households that do not have solid concrete roads. Sharing with the local Party Committee and government, people have joined hands to contribute working days, donate land, and contribute cash to complete these roads. It can be seen that, for the National Target Program on New Rural Construction to be successful, it is necessary to promote the role of the people as subjects, so that people can self-manage, discuss and decide; the State supports and the people respond and contribute more efforts. In particular, the implementation must be public and transparent, creating conditions for people to have the right to decide and supervise the use of capital they contribute. Thanks to that, the work of building New Rural Areas in the district has achieved positive results, local infrastructure has been gradually completed, and the appearance of the countryside has increasingly improved.
