On the morning of January 1, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism coordinated with the Southern Airports Authority, Tan Son Nhat International Airport and airlines to organize a ceremony to welcome tourists in early 2023 to Ho Chi Minh City at conveyor belts 4 and 5 of the International Terminal - Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
The ceremony to welcome the first tourist group in 2023 demonstrates the friendly and hospitable culture of Ho Chi Minh City to tourists from near and far.
This is also an activity marking the beginning of new breakthroughs in the City's tourism industry in the new year.
These passengers came from 3 international flights: flight VN30 from Frankfurt, Germany to Ho Chi Minh City landing at 7:25; international flight number VJ841 departing from Taiwan to Ho Chi Minh City landing at 8:50.
Ho Chi Minh City welcomes first guests
The lucky groups of guests on the two flights above were solemnly and politely welcomed by the Organizing Committee when they "kicked the first leg" of the new year 2023 for Ho Chi Minh City.
In particular, upon arriving in Ho Chi Minh City, international guests received a surprise from the Organizing Committee with activities to experience traditional craft villages during Tet such as: admiring performances of calligraphy, drawing conical hats, making figurines, enjoying tea, performing traditional musical instruments by artisans along with spring picking activities.
In addition, each distinguished guest who "enters the house" at the beginning of the new year will also receive lovely gifts, souvenirs, flower tea packages imbued with the scent of the homeland from the Vietnamese Tea Cultural Heritage Connection Association - Ho Chi Minh City Cultural Heritage Association or coffee packages with new fruit flavors.
Mr. Duong Anh Duc, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, said that 2022 is a successful year for the city's tourism when the number of international tourists is estimated to reach more than 3.46 million, an increase of 100% over the same period in 2021, reaching 99% of the 2022 plan. Domestic visitors are more than 31 million, an increase of 234.1% over the same period in 2021.
Compared to the previous year, these numbers have doubled. When visitors come to Ho Chi Minh City, they have more options to extend their stay thanks to many activities to explore .
Ho Chi Minh City has also been very successful in connecting locations and regions compared to 2021, and tourists appreciate this change.

Improve the quality and diversify the city's tourism products, focusing on typical tourism products; focus on communication and promotion of typical tourism products, destinations and the city's tourism brand.
Promote tourism stimulus and exploit digital applications in tourism; welcome 5,000,000 international visitors, 35 million domestic visitors with total tourism revenue reaching 160,000 billion VND.
The city's tourism industry continues to focus on improving efficiency, maximizing advantages, and creating a healthy competitive environment for businesses and the tourism development community.
Promote the application of information technology, improve the effectiveness of communication and tourism promotion, and implement a tourism development cooperation program between Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces/cities.
