(Dan Tri) - On the occasion of November 20, Ma Lieng primary school students in Quang Binh chose the most beautiful wild flowers, some even brought some green tea branches to give to their teachers.

Early in the morning of the first day of the week, Ho Van Dao, a 4th grade student, and many other students at the Chuoi village school, Lam Hoa commune's Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, Tuyen Hoa district (Quang Binh) went to school with bright smiles.

In the hands of the Ma Lieng student (Chut ethnic group) are 3 green tea branches that he picked himself from his garden, brought to school to show his gratitude to his homeroom teacher Hoang Xuan Duc.

As soon as Mr. Duc entered, the entire class 4b at the Chuoi village school stood up politely to greet him. Then, from their desks, they took out branches of wild flowers of all colors and rushed to the podium to give to Mr. Duc, sending their best wishes on Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20.

"We wish you happiness and good health to teach us good things. We are grateful and love you very much," said Hoang Thi Kim Chi, the class monitor, and then the whole class surrounded and gave flowers to the teacher.

Shyly following behind was student Ho Van Dao. Not having time to prepare flowers like his friends, Dao brought 3 green tea branches to give to his teacher, then shyly said: "I couldn't find flowers, so I picked green tea leaves from the garden to give to you to make tea to drink."

Receiving the sincere and simple feelings of the students, teacher Hoang Xuan Duc was moved. He said that the students in the class are mostly children of the Ma Lieng ethnic group, their lives are still difficult but they are very affectionate and obedient.

During 29 years of working in education in the highland commune of Lam Hoa, bringing letters to the Ma Lieng people, the gift that Mr. Duc desires most is the maturity of his students. He only hopes that they will have enough to eat, warm clothes, and go to school so that in the future they can contribute to building the village out of poverty and move forward.

"Wild flower branches, green tea, sometimes snails, fish, cassava, sweet potatoes... all contain the feelings that students have for their teachers. That is the motivation for us teachers in the highlands to continue to strive to overcome difficulties, all for our beloved students," Mr. Duc shared.

In response to her feelings, at the end of the class, Mr. Duc rode his motorbike to the commune center to buy candy and milk, and brought them back to the classroom so that the teacher and students could celebrate together, joining in the common joy of celebrating Vietnamese Teachers' Day.

Talking to Dan Tri reporter, teacher Nguyen Huu Tam, Principal of Lam Hoa Commune Ethnic Minority Boarding Primary and Secondary School, said that the whole school currently has 40 teachers, nearly 300 students with 1 main school and 3 separate schools in the villages: Ke, Cao and Chuoi.

According to Mr. Tam, over 70% of the school’s students are disadvantaged and are ethnic minority children. With the attention of all levels, authorities, and sponsoring organizations, over the years, the school’s facilities have become more and more spacious.

In addition to teaching in class, Lam Hoa Primary and Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities regularly sends teachers to their homes to guide students in their studies. They encourage parents to pay attention to their children's studies and not let them skip classes to follow adults to the forest or fields.

"Education is increasingly improving, and local children are acquiring more knowledge. Thanks to literacy, the villages in Lam Hoa are changing and developing day by day. That is the greatest gift for us on November 20th," Mr. Tam said with a smile.
