Beautifully dressed beauties at Met Gala 2023

Anne Hathaway, Jennie Kim, Naomi Campbell are considered by Vogue to be the best dressed stars at Met Gala 2023.

Rihanna arrived at the Met Gala wearing a Valentino haute couture gown made of silk. The singer's coat was adorned with more than 30 camellias made from 500 fabric petals.

The 2023 Met Gala took place on the evening of May 1 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. This year, the event used an off-white carpet, accented with blue and red stripes to represent the theme Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty. "The zigzag lines represent Karl's conflicting styles of historicism, romance, and decoration. The straight lines represent his modern, classic, and minimalist tendencies," Andrew Bolton, chief curator of the Anna Wintour Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum, told Vogue .

According to Vogue , Nicole Kidman perfectly interpreted the Karl Lagerfeld-themed evening. The Australian "swan" re-wore the Chanel Haute Couture dress she wore in the iconic Chanel No.5 ad in 2004. The design was made of 4m-long pink silk tulle, embroidered with 250 pink ostrich feathers, and embellished with more than 3,000 crystals and silver sequins.

Kidman said of her impression of Karl: "When I tried on Karl in the atelier, I loved seeing his dedication to his craft. I remember his laugh when he first sketched this dress and gave it to me. He's made a few dresses for me, but I think this is the best one." Karl loved to design things in pale pink for Nicole Kidman.

Model Anok Yai wore a Prabal Gurung dress with a plunging neckline, hand-sequined with tassels. The dress transitioned from gold to silver in a subtle way. A few of the sequins were skillfully placed on the sheer tulle, creating a falling effect.

Anne Hathaway wore a Versace dress, a remake of the famous Gianni Versace design worn by Elizabeth Hurley in 1994. The outfit was combined with a classic updo hairstyle and nude makeup.

Marion Cotillard shows off her legs in a Chanel sequined straight-cut mini dress. The French star looks stunning with a pink pixie cut that matches her lipstick.

As one of the event's hosts, Michaela Coel chose a surrealist Schiaparelli gown with crystals, beads and sequins. The outfit was inspired by one of Chanel's signature features - the use of jewelry on clothes. The highlight was the gold-plated metal embellishments in a trompe l'oeil style. The piece took over 3,800 hours of hand embroidery to complete.

Olivia Rodrigo's tweed and silk camellia dress by Thom Browne was described by Vogue as "enviably glamorous."

Margot Robbie scored in a black dress decorated with chains on plastic pads. The design was worn by Cindy Crawford at Chanel's fall 1993 haute couture show.

Naomi Campbell, one of Karl Lagerfeld's top supermodels, also attended wearing a design from the French fashion house's archives. She wore a pink off-the-shoulder dress with silver details from the spring 2010 couture collection.

According to Vogue , Gigi Hadid was the hottest looking star at the event. Givenchy designer Matthew Williams designed a see-through cut-out dress inspired by Karl's favorite things, including corsets and tulle.

The final ambassador chosen by Karl Lagerfeld - Jennie Kim - for her first Met Gala. The Blackpink singer wore a camellia mini dress from Chanel's Fall 1990 collection.
