According to Tokyo Sports , on May 19, a representative of luxury fashion brand Prada confirmed that there are no more plans to cooperate with actress Nagano Mei on any projects after April - the time before allegations about her private life appeared in the media.

Following a statement sent to Japanese media, Prada declined to comment further on whether actress Nagano Mei's brand ambassador contract would continue.

The incident involving Nagano Mei comes just over a month after actor Kim Soo Hyun's love scandal. Notably, both of them are brand ambassadors for Prada.

Nagano Mei began collaborating with Prada in 2019 and has appeared in many of the brand's major fashion campaigns. In 2023, the Japanese artist was officially recognized as a brand ambassador.

This information was confirmed in Prada's 2023 global ambassador list, where Nagano Mei appeared alongside a series of prominent names such as Jeong Jaehyun, ENHYPEN, Kim Taeri, Li Xian, Kentaro Sakaguchi, Cai Xukun, Jeon Somi...

On April 4, a few weeks before the love scandal broke out, Nagano Mei still shared a personal photo with a Prada handbag on her social media account, showing her close connection with the brand.

After Bunshun magazine published two investigative articles on April 23 and May 7, suspecting her of having an extramarital affair with actor Kei Tanaka (who is married), there was a strong public reaction.

Nagano Mei denied the photo Bunshun published and said the two were just friends (Photo: Bunshun).

Both sides' management companies have denied the allegations, but at least nine brands including Suntory, NTT Communications, SK-II, JCB and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries are said to have removed advertising campaigns featuring Nagano.

According to some sources in the Japanese advertising industry, companies are becoming more cautious with their artists' images after many incidents negatively affected their brand reputation.

The case of Nagano Mei continues to be a clear demonstration of the close connection between personal image and work responsibilities in the entertainment and advertising industry in Japan.

Notably, this is not the first time Prada has faced trouble from its representatives. Previously, many famous ambassadors of the brand such as Irene (Red Velvet), Chanyeol (EXO), Trinh Sang, Ly Dich Phong... have disappointed the public due to scandals related to their personal lives.

The fact that many Prada ambassadors have been embroiled in controversy has raised questions about the criteria for selecting the brand's representative faces. In the context of strong social media development, the image of the artist needs to be consistent with the brand's orientation and maintain transparency with the public.
