Ninh Binh: Destroyed nearly 80 kg of food of unknown origin

On May 19, Market Management Team No. 4, Ninh Binh Province Market Management Department conducted an inspection at Tinh Lieu Business Store - Nguyen Tuan Anh Business Household (Hamlet 8, Phat Diem Town, Kim Son District) and discovered nearly 80 kg of food of unknown origin.

At the time of inspection, Nguyen Anh Tuan was trading in the following goods: 10 bags of green thread (1kg/bag), 8 kg of dried chicken thread, 8 kg of dried beef thread, 10 kg of dried banana and 50 kg of papaya thread, which are goods of unknown origin. In addition, the Inspection Team discovered that the store was trading in many types of food (such as green Thai tea, potatoes, sausages) which are foreign-made goods, without invoices and documents as required by law.

The business owner could not present any invoices or documents to determine the legality of all the above goods. The Captain of Market Management Team No. 4 issued a decision to fine the business household Nguyen Anh Tuan for trading in food of unknown origin and trading in smuggled food with a total fine of 10 million VND, and at the same time forced the destruction of all the violating goods worth nearly 20 million VND.

Implementing the Prime Minister's direction in Official Dispatch No. 65/CD-TTg dated May 15, 2025 on launching a peak period to fight against and repel smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and infringement of intellectual property rights, the Market Management Department of Ninh Binh province will strengthen inspection and control of business establishments and distributors in all urban areas, rural areas, remote areas, promptly prevent and strictly handle acts of trading in smuggled goods, counterfeit goods, and goods of unknown origin, ensuring the rights of consumers.
