Sugarcane area increased slightly

Mr. Phan Kien Nghia has 50 hectares of sugarcane in the sugarcane area of ​​Ninh Xuan commune, Ninh Hoa town. Mr. Nghia said that in the 2023 - 2024 sugarcane crop, his family's average sugarcane yield reached 60 tons/ha. In recent years, AgriS Ninh Hoa Import-Export Joint Stock Company has applied machinery to the stages of planting, caring for, and harvesting sugarcane, so farmers have been liberated from labor, no longer having to run around everywhere to find people to care for and harvest sugarcane like before. With a large area, fertilizing and harvesting by machine is very suitable, helping farmers feel secure in developing production. In the 2024 - 2025 crop, he will develop another 10 hectares, bringing his family's total sugarcane area to 60 hectares.

Sharing the joy of the effectiveness of sugarcane, Mr. Nguyen Nhan Thai in Ninh Sim commune said that last crop, his family planted 10 hectares of sugarcane, with a yield of 65 tons/ha. All underground plowing stages were done by large plows, capable of plowing 30 - 50cm deep into the ground, helping the soil to be loose and retain more water. Thanks to that, sugarcane grows faster and is more resistant to pests and diseases. In addition, the plowing, fertilizing, harvesting... stages are all done by machines, thus freeing up labor. In the 2024 - 2025 crop, he decided to expand by 30 hectares of sugarcane, bringing his family's sugarcane area to 40 hectares.

According to the leader of Ninh Hoa Town People's Committee, last crop year, farmers in the area harvested more than 5,100 hectares of sugarcane. Each hectare brought in an income of 20 to 22 million VND, an increase compared to before. Therefore, in the 2024 - 2025 crop year, the sugarcane area in the town increased by about 5% compared to the previous crop.

Invest in quality

According to Ms. Vo Thi Thuy Tien - Director of AgriS Ninh Hoa Import-Export Joint Stock Company, in the 2024 - 2025 crop year, the company will continue to maintain an investment program with strong support orientation so that customers can feel secure in sticking with and expanding sugarcane growing areas, intensive farming to achieve high productivity and reduce production costs, thereby bringing profits to sugarcane growers and contributing more to the local budget.

Specifically, the area invested by AgriS Ninh Hoa in the 2023-2024 crop year (harvested in 2024-2025) is nearly 10,000 hectares, reaching 113.53% of the plan and increasing by 1.97% compared to the previous crop year. Of which, the area converted from other ineffective crops to sugarcane cultivation is more than 1,000 hectares. The total investment capital for sugarcane growing customers is more than 135 billion VND for sugarcane cultivation items from land preparation to planting and care. Of which, there is nearly 18 billion VND in non-refundable investment support.

Along with investing and applying machinery and equipment in production, the company has also launched many agricultural extension activities that have been boldly applied by farmers and have shown good results. Typically, testing new sugarcane varieties with better disease resistance and productivity; organizing the analysis of 250 cultivated land samples in the raw material area to accurately determine the nutritional composition of the soil, giving recommendations on fertilizer formulas suitable for each region. AgriS Ninh Hoa has also tested the prevention and control of sugarcane stem borers using ABI red-eyed wasps on an area of ​​50 hectares with encouraging results, which have been applied by many farmers in the process of sugarcane care. In addition, farming models adapted to land and soil conditions in Khanh Hoa such as the method of planting sugarcane by digging trenches - Forking soil for hilly areas, rocky areas, areas with little rain; underground plowing for flat land... have helped to continuously improve the productivity and quality of sugarcane.
