Many university entrance exams are booming.

Lack of trust creates many exams.

Up to now, according to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training , the whole country has 20 university admission methods, including the method of organizing separate entrance exams for each school.

As for the method of organizing separate exams, when put into practice, many schools have applied and used it. This has led to a situation where there were 20 admission methods, each school applied a different method, leading to a chaotic situation in university admissions.

Commenting on this situation, National Assembly Delegate Nguyen Thi Viet Nga (National Assembly Delegation of Hai Duong province) said that there are too many exams for university admission.

For schools involved in entrance exams for gifted subjects, organizing a separate exam is necessary.

As for schools that do not require aptitude tests but also take common subjects such as graduation exams, having too many exams is a problem.

The reason for this incident, according to National Assembly member Nguyen Thi Viet Nga, is that schools do not want to rely on the results of the high school graduation exam because they are not confident in the quality of this exam.

“This caution shows that schools do not believe in the results of the high school exam. Because if they did, schools would have used the graduation exam results,” Ms. Nga analyzed.

According to this person, in reality, cheating on exams has happened and many people have gone to jail. Many students have had to drop out of school because the re-scoring results revealed cheating.

Because of that fraud, many schools that value the quality of admissions are not confident.

“Organizing separate exams makes schools work hard from the questions to grading. But if they only take the results of the high school graduation exam, they will have a very easy time,” said National Assembly member Nguyen Thi Viet Nga.

Should return to 2 in 1 exam

Discussing the exam plan to reduce the load and reduce losses, Ms. Nguyen Thi Viet Nga said that the best plan is still a 2-in-1 exam.

Having only one exam is the best way to reduce the workload, avoiding the situation where every time the university entrance exam comes, children have to carry their bags and go to the cities to take the exam. This brings fatigue and expense to the whole society.

The important thing is to make the exam truly serious and fair. “We should review the exam creation and grading process. If the exam structure classifies candidates well, universities will feel secure using the results for admission.

The structure of the exam must be able to classify candidates and not follow the path of achievement. Avoid the situation where candidates get extremely high scores but the quality is not guaranteed.

The average score of good candidates is only 8 points. But now, with so many students scoring 28 to 29 points, it is difficult for schools to confidently enroll them,” Ms. Nga emphasized.

According to this National Assembly member, instead of thinking about creating an exam to ensure student differentiation, we should rectify and organize the high school graduation exam well. Organizing a 2-in-1 exam will both reduce the burden and save money for the whole society.

In recent years, there have been too many innovations ineducation and testing. One day, the test is one way, the next year, another way, leading to insecurity for parents and students. Each batch of tests has a different way, making students and parents feel insecure.

"Now, where the implementation is not good, we will go back and strengthen it to ensure good implementation to ensure fairness and quality, creating peace of mind for universities to use the enrollment results," Ms. Nga said.

Thus, through discussions with experts, it can be seen that the 2-in-1 exam method is still a cost-effective solution and creates peace of mind for parents and society. Instead, each place organizes an exam without knowing whether the quality of the exam is better than the high school graduation exam.
