Aiming at the goal of sustainable and comprehensive development, Quang Ninh province has effectively and practically implemented activities to care for the lives of students in mountainous, remote, border and island areas.
Specifically, the focus is on improving the qualityof education , care and nurturing of children in ethnic minority areas. In many localities such as Binh Lieu, Ba Che, Dam Ha, Tien Yen, etc., the system of dining halls, kitchens, and boarding areas is invested in and renovated synchronously. Boarding meals are not only sufficient in quantity but also in quality, built according to a balanced nutritional menu, suitable for the physical condition of each age group and regional customs.
In addition, many schools have been creative in implementing the models of “Children’s vegetable garden” and “Safe kitchen”, both serving meals directly to students and educating students in life skills, labor responsibility and knowledge about clean food in mountainous areas. Thanks to that, the physical condition, height, weight and health of ethnic minority students have changed positively, significantly reducing the rate of malnutrition in schools.
Along with improving the quality of meals, nutrition education and physical training are also focused on through food safety and hygiene education activities, organizing physical education classes, and extracurricular activities to help students develop comprehensively in terms of physical strength and life skills.
The lives of students in remote, mountainous, border and island areas of Quang Ninh province are of concern.
Accompanying the authorities and the education sector of Quang Ninh province, the Women's Union at all levels in the province has also actively and responsibly participated in implementing the contents of Project 8 "Implementing gender equality and solving urgent issues for women and children", so that the activities of skill education and comprehensive care for ethnic minority children in the province can really quickly enter life.
According to the representative of the Women's Union of Quang Ninh province, closely following Plan No. 255/KH-UBND dated October 31, 2022 of the Provincial People's Committee on implementing Project 8 "Implementing gender equality and solving urgent issues for women and children" under the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas, 2021-2025 period in the province, in recent years, the Provincial Women's Union has directed local Women's Unions to actively build pioneering communication groups for change in the community. Accordingly, the Provincial Women's Union directly guides district and commune-level organizations to build a communication network on digital platforms (zalo, fanpage...) to share and spread the activities of the communication groups.
Women's Union at all levels in Quang Ninh province has many activities to care for children.
Along with that, the Union at all levels also builds and replicates models to change "thinking and working methods", enhance economic power for women; promote gender equality, solve urgent problems of women and children. At the same time, research models to support livelihood development, community integration for victims of human trafficking; ensure the voice and role of girls in the socio-economic development of the community through the "Leaders of Change" Club model.
Comprehensive health care activities for ethnic minority children have also been effectively implemented by the Women's Union at all levels. Typically, in Dam Ha district, implementing the contents of Project 8, the Women's Union at all levels has organized the model "Parents' group for care, education, and development of young children" which has been widely welcomed and enthusiastically participated by female members. Implementing this model, the Women's Union at the commune level has organized meetings, propaganda, and mobilization for families with children under 5 years old, helping families improve their knowledge of child care.
The efforts of the Women's Union at all levels of Quang Ninh province have been contributing to raising awareness, changing gender stereotypes; promoting the proactive role of women themselves, combined with the participation of all levels, sectors and people in caring for and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of women and children in the province.
