Farmers in the shrimp-rice conversion area of Hong Dan district and Phuoc Long district (Bac Lieu) are entering the harvest season of giant freshwater prawns raised on rice fields.
Because it is not yet the peak harvest season, the price of giant freshwater prawns is currently being purchased by traders at a high price, making farmers in the shrimp-rice conversion area in districts of Bac Lieu excited.
Specifically, medium-sized green-legged shrimp weighing 15-40 pieces/kg costs 140,000 VND/kg, while those weighing 12-40 pieces/kg are sold for 155,000 VND/kg.
With this high price of giant freshwater prawn, farmers have quite a high profit. Giant freshwater prawn intercropped in rice fields does not cost food, care, etc. Farmers only have to spend money on buying seeds at the beginning of the season.
However, according to many people, the price of green-legged shrimp will gradually decrease when farmers enter the peak shrimp harvest season in the coming days.
