Participating in the movement "Farmers compete in good production and business", Mr. Lo Van Chu's family in Huoi Na village, Chieng On commune is growing 1 hectare of longan, raising 5 sows and more than 100 chickens. Mr. Chu shared: In addition to developing the livestock economy , since 2017, my family has invested in buying boats to buy shrimp and fish along the Son La hydroelectric lake. Currently, 3 boats buy an average of 600 kg of shrimp and prawns per day, selling to traders in Hai Phong and Hanoi. After deducting expenses, the family earns over 500 million VND per year.

Not only focusing on developing the family economy, Mr. Lo Van Chu also supports many poor farmer members with seeds, capital and livestock farming experience; creates regular jobs for 3 local workers. He is evaluated by the District Farmers' Association as a good farmer household in production and business at the district level.

Quynh Nhai Farmers' Association has 8,777 members, operating in 103 branches. Accompanying members in economic development, from 2020 to present, the Association has coordinated with the District Agricultural Service Center to organize 1,028 training courses to transfer technical advances to nearly 62,000 members on techniques for caring for and preventing diseases for fish; pruning techniques, caring for and preventing pests and diseases for crops; using organic fertilizers; techniques for treating livestock waste as fertilizer; skills for selling products on digital platforms...

At the same time, mobilize and support members to participate in developing collective economic models and farms. Up to now, 2 cooperatives and 5 cooperative groups in agriculture have been established; 10 branches and 50 professional farmer groups have been established, gradually changing the production and business thinking of members in economic development.

In economic development, the Association has been entrusted with over 130 billion VND from the Social Policy Bank; the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development through 60 savings and loan groups, lending to 2,288 members. Received over 6 billion VND from the Farmers Support Fund at all levels to implement 17 projects for farmers to develop production.

Thanks to that, Quynh Nhai district has built 61 economic development models of typical good production and business households. Good production and business households actively help poor farmer members. In the past 5 years, they have helped 99 member households escape poverty and built 12 farmer houses worth a total of 320 million VND. In 2024, the whole district will have 1,409 member households achieving the title of good production and business households at all levels.

In addition, officials and farmer members have actively participated in building new rural areas. From 2020 to now, members have contributed 4,500 working days, over 6.6 billion VND in cash, donated over 28,000 m² of land, renovated, repaired and upgraded hundreds of kilometers of rural roads and irrigation works, and cultural houses.

Mobilizing thousands of members at the grassroots level to participate in the movement of activities "Saturday back to the grassroots level" to clean up alleys and hamlets; plant trees, maintain and repair roads assigned to manage, contributing to changing the appearance of the countryside; building cultural families and villages. The whole district has 10/10 communes meeting new rural standards, of which 2 communes meet advanced new rural standards.

The movement "Farmers compete in good production and business" in Quynh Nhai district has clearly demonstrated the role and companionship of the association, arousing the determination, dynamism and creativity in developing the family economy of each member, contributing to building the land along the Da River to develop more and more.
