- How is your day going?
I have 3 places to go back and forth. So, every 3 days I stay at my house, 3 days at my mother's house and 3 days at the garden house.
I travel by public transport. I used to drive my own car, but I thought it was too expensive to maintain and pay the driver, so I sold it. Since selling my car, I have saved an average of more than 25 million VND per month.
My garden has 5 dogs and 4 cats. I recently raised ducks but unfortunately the catfish in the pond ate them all, now there are only 2 left.
People's Artist Minh Hang.
I also like raising catfish, the fish I raise are very large, each one is as big as a thigh. Every time I feed them, I call “bang bang bang” like in the story of Tam Cam, they all come up and “poke their beaks”, very cute! To take care of the fish, every month, I have to spend more than 1 million VND to ask the maid to buy bran and lungs to chop up for them to eat.
Recently, "baby" Bong - my husband's beloved dog had a tumor and had to be hospitalized, spending nearly 20 million but it still hasn't gotten better. Bong is old, but I still treated him because before he passed away, my husband told me to love all pets. Or when the jumping cat broke its leg, I also had to take it to the hospital, bandage it and treat it, costing more than 10 million.
- Have you regained your balance after your husband passed away?
Now, I feel very comfortable, my thinking is different from before. I realized Buddhism after my husband passed away, so I think simply, although we meet in this life, it is not certain in the next life. Depending on each person's fortune and karma, everyone will go to a different realm and may never meet again. I want to see him again, so I made an appointment in the other world , but in reality, how can we meet again?
So I decided to be good to each other while we were alive, and it was okay if we didn't see each other again after we passed away. I realized that after my husband passed away.
Before he passed away, my husband also told me: “Minh Hang, I give you this much to save for when I am no longer here. My share has been divided equally among the children. You can do whatever you want with it, but keep it because I only have this much left.”
So now I don't care about making money, just enough to live and have fun with friends, help others... Even if I hate someone, I just ignore it without having to explain much.
- Do you intend to be with any other man to accompany you in old age?
In my mind, I have absolutely no intention of “moving on” with anyone else. At the age of 60, whether I look at men or women, my emotions do not “wave” at all.
I love my husband very much, no matter which country I go to, I always bring his picture with me. One time, I was in a hurry and forgot to bring his picture, I threw up so hard that I couldn’t eat or drink. After that, I prayed: “Honey, I forgot your picture at home, please bless me with the strength to return, the journey back is 700 kilometers so I’m very scared, otherwise I will stay here for a week or two before I can return”. Then I got better, the journey back was very smooth.
I don’t intend to find another man, nor have any children, but wherever I go, everyone calls me “mom”. My children take care of me in every little thing.
Minh Hang is youthful despite being over 60 years old.
For example, I met Son when I went to get my teeth done. At first, he quoted me 327 million VND, I was about to bargain down when Son offered to pay me 90 million VND for the materials. After that, we didn't see each other for half a year, but Son still called me occasionally to ask about my dental care. The next time I went back, I saw that he was still as sincere as before, so I decided to invite Son out, and we naturally became as close as mother and son.
Fortunately, life did not bring us together in any other awkward situation, but instead, it was a situation of “spending a lot of money”, so I had another child. Son said he would take care of me for the rest of my life, go out together and enjoy life.
- Being alone, are you afraid of the day you die?
Every time I returned to my big garden house, many people asked me if I was afraid of ghosts. I thought the ghosts were probably afraid of me. My mother was very worried about me. She advised me to move to the city because she was afraid that her daughter would be in danger, wandering around alone at night.
I told my mother: Everyone who comes to this world has their own purpose, their own money, and their own position. If something happens, I will have no more fate with this world. My grave is ready, everything is in order, so I feel fine. If I have to go, it is God's will. So please rest assured, don't worry about what will happen to me.
I have prepared the necessary "combo" for the road ahead, and pray that I can now enjoy life with friends, living a life without resentment, anger, expectations, or blame.
Before I became enlightened, I was quite sad because I had no children. But now I understand that when I came to this world, I owed no one. If there are children who come to me because of fate to repay their debts, there will certainly be people who come just to collect their debts.
I wish I could buy a few dozen kilos of quartz so that when I lie down, I want to be covered in that quartz.
- Why do you like to carry gems and jewelry?
Quartz is a precious stone, of course it is not too expensive, but maybe in a few hundred years, the area where my grave is located will be leveled to make way for other projects. At that time, people will "excavate" my grave, they will be amazed at the pile of stones and think that I am a famous person to bury so many precious things (laughs). That's an artist, even after death, he still wants to be famous.
40 years ago, I had my horoscope read and the fortune teller said that when I died, I would be buried on a very high mound. At that time, my family had no money so I was skeptical. But now, we have money, a garden, land, and even a burial place on the highest hilltop.
I also bought a spot at the temple and booked a 50-year grave care service for both me and my husband. My husband's children are all abroad and cannot take care of the graves regularly.
