Chi Dep - the niece who takes care of vocal instructor, Meritorious Artist My An - informed that she passed away at 2:00 a.m. on July 28 at her home.
"She was hospitalized for treatment of many underlying diseases at Hospital 175, but due to old age and weakness, she could not fight the disease, she fell into a coma and was sent home a few months ago. Luckily, her daughter from abroad returned in time and took care of her mother in her final days," said Ms. Dep.

Meritorious Artist My Anh's real name is Ngo Thi Lieu, born on November 15, 1943 in Ba Ria - Vung Tau . At the age of 15, she followed her family to the North. After graduating from the Conservatory, she joined the Liberation Radio Station in the war zone, performing for the cadres and soldiers in the South. She was highly appreciated by experts for her lyrical and emotional voice.

During her time working at the radio station, Meritorious Artist My An met, fell in love with, and then married Professor - musician Ca Le Thuan - one of the famous composers and music researchers.
After the country's reunification, Meritorious Artist My An was sent to study in Bulgaria and then returned home to participate in establishing the Vocal Music Department of Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music as Deputy Head of Department.

Chi Dep - the person who took care of Meritorious Artist My An in her last years
Meritorious Artist My An once recorded "Song of the Saigon Self-Defense Women". The song was composed in 1968, after the Mau Than campaign, with lyrics by martyr - poet Le Anh Xuan (who is also the younger brother of Professor - musician Ca Le Thuan - PV). The recording was made around the beginning of 1970 with the performance of Meritorious Artist My An in her youth and the Liberation Radio orchestra.
Since Professor - musician Ca Le Thuan passed away, she has been living with her sister Dep, and her daughter is living in Belgium.
Not long ago, the program "Mai Vang Nhan Ai" visited Meritorious Artist My An. She sent a message to generations of students to make efforts to beautify the art flower garden and promote the spirit of working for a culture - art rich in humanity of the nation.
