Ms. Nguyen Hien My - daughter of Meritorious Artist Tuyet Nga - told the reporter of Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper that her mother passed away on May 13, 4-5, at the age of 80.

Meritorious Artist Tuyet Nga's real name is Nguyen Thi My Sen, born in 1946 in Thua Thien, Hue . She has spent her life attached to the art of Cheo and has many roles that are loved by the public such as: Thi Mau (play "Thi Mau goes to the pagoda"), Xuy Van (play "Xúy Van pretends to be crazy"), Chich Cheo (play of the same name)...

Meritorious Artist Tuyet Nga has long been considered one of the outstanding talents of Cheo theater. With her sophisticated, multi-dimensional acting style and excellent ability to transform into many different types of roles, she has left a deep impression through classic roles such as Thi Mau in the play "Thi Mau Len Chua", Xuy Van in "Xúy Van Gia Dai" and especially the role of Chich Cheo in the play of the same name.

Each character and role, performed by Tuyet Nga's talent, has its own nuances, expressing the inner depth and rich folk soul of traditional Cheo art.

In the role of Thi Mau – a role full of vitality and expressiveness – Tuyet Nga portrayed the image of a flirtatious, capricious but extremely lovely and innocent girl. Her talent lies not only in expressing Thi Mau’s mischievousness and obvious flirting, but also in always maintaining the fragile boundary between flirtatiousness and charming humor, without falling into the offensive.

If Thi Mau is the embodiment of liveliness, then Xuy Van is a great challenge for the artist's ability to express her inner self. With "Xúy Vân giả đại", Meritorious Artist Tuyet Nga not only plays a woman who "pretends to be crazy" but also performs a tragic soul full of contradictions - between the intense desire for love and the suffocation of feudal morality.

The beauty of Meritorious Artist Tuyet Nga is that she does not follow the style of exaggerating madness, but skillfully restrains it with small movements: distant eyes, intermittent laughter, distorted and mysterious singing. Through that, Xuy Van appears not only as a dramatic image but also full of poetry and humanity - something that few artists can fully express.

Chích Chèo – the comic character in the play of the same name – is a role that requires the ability to improvise flexibly, juggle with co-stars and completely master the rhythm of the stage. She plays this role with a clear voice, witty humor and versatile facial expressions. Under her acting, Chích Chèo is not only a character that brings laughter, but also a voice that gently and deeply criticizes the bad habits in society.

From the flirtatious Thi Mau, to the tragic Xuy Van and the humorous Chich Cheo, Meritorious Artist Tuyet Nga has demonstrated her diverse acting ability, flexible transformation and remarkable artistic depth.

She has guided many artists from other fields to get acquainted with the art of Cheo when she moved to the South to live in Ho Chi Minh City such as: People's Artist Bach Tuyet, Meritorious Artist Hoai Linh, MC Thanh Bach, Artist Xuan Huong... In her retirement years, she participated in social work, holding the position of Vice President of the Association for the Support of Disabled Children in Ho Chi Minh City.

"My mother had underlying diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, cardiovascular disease... and had been in and out of the hospital for many years. Her passing left her family and fellow artists with much grief. Not long ago, People's Artist Bach Tuyet and People's Artist Kim Cuong visited my mother. The concern of fellow artists was a great encouragement for my mother to overcome the pain of old age illness" - Ms. Nguyen Hien My shared.

She has 4 children, in the family there is Ms. Nguyen Hien My who follows in her footsteps, although she is not a performing actress, she is a prestigious costume specialist, known by the artists of Ho Chi Minh City and has a costume warehouse to meet the festival and performance needs of many art units in Ho Chi Minh City.

Meritorious Artist Tuyet Nga's husband, Mr. Nguyen Tien Lam - former Deputy Director of Nguyen Dinh Chieu Film Studio, passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic. Meritorious Artist Tuyet Nga's funeral was held at Vinh Nghiem Pagoda. The funeral will be held at 9:00 a.m. on May 8, followed by cremation at Binh Hung Hoa.
