Her grandfather, Colonel Ha Van Vinh (born in 1944) was a military expert in Southern Laos, participating in the 959 and 565 groups during the period 1962-1975. Gia Linh's grandmother,    Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hoa (born in 1953), also a volunteer soldier, military expert in Laos from 1970 to 1980, later a department-level leader of the Government Office .

Both of them are still actively participating in the Liaison Committee of Vietnamese Volunteer Soldiers and Military Experts in Laos, continuing to contribute to the work of preserving the memories and traditions of a heroic period in the history of the two countries.

Growing up with stories and old films, Gia Linh soon understood the sacred meaning of Vietnam - Laos solidarity. "Every inch of land, every treetop of the Truong Son mountains and forests and all over Laos bears the footprints, sweat, blood and bones of soldiers from both countries," she shared in her speech, recalling the sacrifices that her grandparents and generations of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers had gone through.

Not only does she come from a family with a rich tradition, Ha Gia Linh also impresses with her excellent academic achievements: 12 consecutive years of being an excellent student, IELTS score of 8.0   and GPA 3.5. She was one of the two best amateur contestants of the National Secondary School Debating Championship (NSDC) in 2022, and was also the only high school judge of the English knockout round at the UK - Vietnam Parliamentary Debating Championship (VBC) in 2023.

Currently a student at the Diplomatic Academy, Gia Linh was chosen to represent the young generation in an important diplomatic and political event of the two countries, where there was the presence of President Luong Cuong, Lao Ambassador Khamphau Onthavan and representatives of the family of President Kaysone Phomvihane.

Quoting familiar verses affirmed by President Ho Chi Minh and President Kaysone Phomvihane, the female student emphasized: "As long as the Mekong and Red Rivers have not dried up, as long as the Truong Son mountain range has not been leveled, the friendship between Laos and Vietnam will never be separated."

The year 2025, a year with many special milestones for both countries, is called by Gia Linh as "the year of memories and gratitude", recalling the common revolutionary path that the two peoples have gone through.

The speech was especially touching when Gia Linh mentioned her grandparents, living witnesses of Vietnam-Laos solidarity. She recounted stories about the care of the Lao people for the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers, to emphasize that the sacrifices of previous generations are what today's young generation must continue.

Not only reviewing the past, Gia Linh affirmed that the young generation of the two countries has the responsibility to continue the loyal and pure relationship that the leaders and people of the two countries have worked hard to cultivate. She repeated the advice of President Ho Chi Minh: “Nothing is difficult, only fear of not being steadfast…” and the words of President Kaysone Phomvihane: “Young people must be like eagles, not afraid of storms and tempests”.

In the context of strong integration and digital transformation, the female student affirmed the aspirations of the youth of the two countries: to become a pioneering force in studying, researching, mastering technology, innovating, and building a prosperous nation. The spirit of "Where there is a need, there are youth, where there is difficulty, there are youth" was emphasized by her as an honorable promise of the young generation of Vietnam.

Gia Linh pledged that today's young generation will continue to nurture the special Vietnam-Laos solidarity, increase exchanges, cooperation, and help each other in all fields - from culture, education to technology and startups.

At the end of her speech, the female student sent her best wishes for the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, “higher than mountains, longer than rivers, brighter than the full moon, more fragrant than the most beautiful flowers”. The closing sentence “Kho Khop Chay!” - a thank you in Lao, made the auditorium even warmer.
